Do you think it is going to happen? KSR's Matt Jones says maybe so? Says this should be an interesting week.

Two other sources are now saying it SHOULD happen by Friday barring a failure to clear by the NCAA. For the record, someone yesterday said they didnt feel good about getting a kid that couldnt clear through the NCAA. Well, the problem is only with a class he took his freshmant year in high school, not test scores or anything like that.

I doubt Ramon is coming to UK. The team had their photo shoot earlier this week. No mention of Ramon and we have been hearing about the new walk-on, Mark Coury. Which seals it for me. He ain't coming.

Ramon is enrolled. Just not eligible yet. Hoping to be eligible after first semester.

This may be a dumb question but if he is eligible in the spring, could he play the conference schedule starting out in January? I don't really know anything about the kid but I'm just curious if that was a possible thing to happen. We can worry about the liklihood of him actually doing it later. Would it be a legal thing to do as far as the University and NCAA are concerned?

Yep,
He would actually be eligible for the UL game. Im not sure if its smart to have him play this year though. I guess the staff will make that decision at that time. Im not sure how the whole redshirt thing works as far as this goes since he is most likely on scholarship at the time.

If he is coming I do hope that he is redshirted. Coming in the middle of the season causes disruption (Morris). Also unless he is a going to be an impact player from the start I would rather him stay on the sidelines, learn the system in practice and hit the weights. Only exception would be an injury to a player.
Role players are rarely a distraction. Quite a few teams add football players midseason with no problem. Morris was a distraction for several reasons, 1) he was one of our best players and only interior threat, 2)his status was so up in the air. He was suspended for the year, then 15 games, etc. etc. There was a cloud over the whole thing. This kid won't get more than 5-10 minutes a game so he can easily be worked into the lineup. If he is already practicing with the team and can play by the UL game, he might as well play, IMO. He would get to play 2/3 of a season. No one has ever RS under Tubby at UK so I doubt he starts now. He just does not seem to believe in it.

I don't know how UK's quarters or semesters are scheduled. But starting in January is usually "Winter" quarter and around March-April is "Spring" Quarter. Not sure how January would be considered "Spring" quarter

Fall Semester, Spring Semester. UK is not on Quarters.

Anyone here have Scout? Being told there is a Scout article saying he is headed to prep but I was told otherwise. If you have access please read and post details if you have the time. Thanks

Not to mention that if he plays second semester this year, he is ineligible for second semester his senior year. It would be a very bad trade to give up your last semester as a seniorin order to play a few minutes as a true freshman.
He would be inelgible for a 5th year, not the second half of his SR year.

can he not practice with the team, even though he is not eligible to play yet?

Makes an even worse trade. Play a few minutes as a first semester freshman instead of an entire year as a 5th year senior.

If he is tearing it up in practice and looks like he could really contribute, I would say let him play. The second semester starts early in basketball. But, if heis struggling, redshirt the kid.

What source says he is coming to UK? I have not seen it officially anywhere. Does anyone have a link to some article that says this, or some other source that is reporting it to be so?
