Now that the decision is made, I don't know how to feel. I like the idea of a bright new coach with lots of untried approaches (at least at UK).
But I also like the effort that Brooks&Co have put in, even if the results don't reflect it. I like the underclassmen who make up two thirds of our two-deep roster. I like the recruiting that's been done under Brooks. I appreciate the concept of continuity and recognize that UK is in dire need of some.
So I'm really torn. I want Brooks to succeed so very much. I'm not sure he can or ever will. But then, anybody that UK is likely to bring in, would also have a hard time winning games.
I'm not having a celebration party at my house tonight. But we aren't holding a wake either.
Man, I hate these mixed emotions when I don't know how to feel!
No matter how we feel though, it's time now to band together behind our team and the staff--support them through these last three tough games and look toward an improved performance next year. They will be better next year; it's just a matter of whether that will be good enough to win in the SEC.
