I am watching them right now, and they look pretty impressive to me. Texas State went to the finals of the Div 1 AA championship last year and while they don't have their quaterback, they by no means will be an easy win. i was chatting with someone today and they seem to have an impression that all we had to do is show up for both of these games and the W is ours.. i hope and pray that our players don't have that same prespective.

Texas State and Mississippi will be easy wins. ;):P

Just kidding, of course, there's no such thing as an easy win for a team that went 3-8 last season. With Texas State they should take note of Colorado and Montana. With Mississippi, they are playing another SEC team, so there's no such thing as an easy SEC game.

Of course, as fans, all we have to do (and all we can do) is show up ...... and hopefully make a whole lotta noise.

I'm not going to jump off the edge and act like we're going to be terrible all year.

Kentucky, even in it's better years, always has games like this.

My perception of the "winnable" games hasn't changed.

All this game does is confirm to me that we won't win all the winnable games, like some people seemed to think we would.

Do you honestly think Steve Spurrier is going to let his team lose to ours?

Outside of Vandy, we have the toughest opening game of the year in my opinion. I don't think that Auburn, Bama or Florida would want to play Louisville in their opener on the road.

Let's take this season one game at a time. Ole Miss looked good today, but they were not playing at UL.

Can we PLEASE just concentrate on winning each game each week and not automatically assume that ANY game will automatically be a win or a loss?

Along with that, once we're through critiquing each game, good or bad, can we all come together and get behind the team and coaches and support them each week?

(Oh, and before anyone says anything, that's just an exhortation for everyone to do so, it's not an accusation that anyone ISN'T doing it.)

Ole Miss is MUCH< MUCH better than last year. To assume we will win this game is laughable. We will be a big underdog IMO, and should be. I'm actually hoping THEY watched last nights game and will be overconfident, maybe with an effort (that Rich Brooks has thus far in his tenure been unable to produce in his teams) of epic proportions we might spring an upset at that point. I must tell you guys that after watching this weeks SEC games I don't have ANY of them now marked in the "Sure Win"column. Mississippi State is vastly improved on the defensive side of the ball and will be a very tough out in Starkville. Vandy didn't appear to have as large a dropoff post Jay Cutler as I anticipated. They also handled a tough opener on the road MUCH better than we did.As for USC forget it not gonna happen(barring something miraculous). Right now I have two games on our schedule in the "sure win" column.

With this post, Buddah, I entirely agree.

Too, as Spanish Moss said, add Central Michigan to that list. Also, like BigblueDrew, Iwatched a greatly improved Missisippi State defense. FWIW, even before the disappointing performance againstLouisville, we wouldhave been an underdog against SEVEN of our opponents.

In other words, we must improve greatlyto get that bowl game we all so want (and, yes, it still CANhappen :)). Regardless, assuming that we will beat anyone isdangerous, specifically for our players, as you say here, Buddah.By the way, theCJ's (Bozich, I believe it was)calling UK'sschedule an "ultraliteschedule" was absurd. :(

I don't think anyone has ever referred to Ole Miss as an "easy" win. I think most people have that game circled along with South Carolina as being one of those tough swing games that we must win in order to even think about going to a bowl game. Luckily both of those games are at home.

Will Ole Miss be an easy win...heck no, is it a must win? heck yes.

Many, though, have counted Ole Miss as one of the games UK SHOULD win (based on what I have read). The CJ, in referring to our "ultralite" schedule wascounting that game as one of the six we should win.

In actuality, though, we will be a heavy underdog, and would have been an underdog even prior to the Louisville performance. :(You are right, Trueblujr, that Ole Miss is one of the "tough swing games," but many fans and some in the mediahave not been looking at the Ole Miss game in that light.FWIW, Ole Miss, based on rankings, is a much better team than anyone Louisville has to face this season, besides West Virginia and Miami.

A win over Ole Miss will definitely be an upset. Regardless, we simply must win that game. One game at a time, of course, and Texas State is that MUST-WIN right now.

We have real potential to generate some numbers on offense.

Defensively, I'm concerned.

I hope the Cats make a showing on both sides of the ball. It is hard for me to get excited about the O, when the QB looked like a deer in the headlights and locked in on one receiver most of the game. Also, UK has one of the most talented running backs in the nation and totally abandoned the running game against the Cards. A wheel barrel full of potential and a $1.50 might buy you a cup of coffee at a diner. I was as equally disappointed with the O as I was with the D.

Let's all hope that this next game will be won by a comfortable margin and that there will be a bunch of positives to reflect on, instead of an ugly "L".

As of right now, according to Sagarin ratings (adjusted for home field advantage):

UK would be a 4 pt underdog to Ole Miss and a 10 pt favorite for Texas State.

So much for some peole saying UK would be a huge underdog to OLE Miss!

UK dropped about 6 ratings points because of the UL game. So basically you could throw the Ole Miss game into the Toss up category!

I checked my post to see what I had written, and "some people," or at least this person, did indeed say something similar to our being a "huge underdog" to Ole Miss now. :ggrin:Yes, I said that we would be a "heavy underdog" to Ole Miss, and I had expected just that. Of course, I hope we beat Texas State so badly that we are even a lesser underdog in the game.:)

I am honestly (and pleasantly) surprised that we are only a four-point underdog to Louisville after the blowout loss, though. It will be interesting to see what Vegas says. Regardless,Ole Missis far from agame we can automatically put into the victory column, or count as a weak foe as the CJ counted Ole Miss(and remember that this team received votes in the preseason poll, in contrast to only TWO teams Louisville has int its entire schedule).
