Mitch won't do it, of course that assumes Mitch is here next year.

Why would Mitch be gone? Mitch has done an excellent job. Hiring a coach after Morriss left was an impossible task. Everyone in the industry knew what the next few years were going to bring the Cats.

Well, what I meant was the Mitch may leave. I don't think he'll be fired.

One step ahead of the posse?

Anybody who argued that we should keep the UofL game at the start of the season, please raise your hand so that we may shoot you.

How I would love to see Andre in Mumme's (or, preferably, Leach's offense) ...

Question...why is the first game any different for KY than UofL. It's their first game too so it seems to me that the playing field is level, whether it is the 3rd game, or 1st game. Is this because KY has so many young players they need more time? Honestly, I'm just curious, I don't want to get shot :)but seems to me it should not matter when the game is played.

I hope he hires a great football coach. I would like to see Mitch stick around.

I, too, would like to see Mitch solve the Football Problem. He may have to solve a Basketball Problem, as well. He seems to be doing well in the other areas.

Brooks appears to have done a lot right, but the whole idea is how you perform on gameday. It's kinda like the salesman that prepares well, says all the right things, but just can't close the sale - after a while, you've got to move on.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

It is so painfully obvious that the last thing this program needed was a butt kicking to start the season against a "rival".

Not picking on you because I actually agree that we would be better off playing UofL in game 3, but when in the heck will UK football ever get to the point where it does not matter when we plan an opponent. It's not like UofL has 2 games under their belt when we play them.

Don't worry about picking on me. Pick away, I am in a nit picking mood this morning. Getting bitch slapped on national tv does that to me.

The point is when you go against a rival the first game and you lose, the defeat is much harder than it would be at the end of the season. A rival game is not just another game.

Had we played UL with a 3-1 record coming in or a 6-5 etc., the defeat would hurt but the season would not seem as much of a waste. Losing the first game of the year the way we have been doing the past 4 or 5 seasons puts us behind the 8 ball before we get off of the ground.

Oh well, it is just a matter of opinion I suppose and it makes no difference now. It is history and we agreed to the scheudle so it is our fault.

Maybe the schedule makers still consider Tennessee to be our big rivalry game? Anyway, next year UL is the third game so maybe we can take a 2-0 record in to that game, starting with an epic battle against EKU.

FWIW, your opinion is also my opinion. I also agree with how you said it earlier. The last thing this program needed "was a butt kicking to start the season against a rival.'" A defeat against a rival as the first game hitsthe fans harder, and, more important, hits the players harder (AND these players must beemotionally recovered to play another opponent in six days). That the loss was an embarrassingblowout, takingaway their belief in themselves only one game into the season, makes it that much worse.

As difficult a schedule aswe play (fourth toughest in the nation, according to ESPN Insider), specifically in the SEC East, the pressure is immediately on. As you just said, for the past four seasons, we havebeen put "behind the 8 ball before we get off of the ground."By theway, in contrast, when we beat Louisville in 2002, although their hopes of a BCS bid and potential national championshiphadgoneout the window, Louisville did not really feel that much pressure because of a relatively easy C-USA schedule facing them after the loss.Actually, Spanish Moss, I don't only agree with you on this one, but strongly agree.
