Here are a few positives we can build on next week

We found a second WR to compliment Burton. Lyons stepped up and surprised me with 84 yds and 2 tds.

I believe Micah will be starting next game, in limited playing time he was second on the team with 6 unassisted tackles and 7 total.

Mashtay, who was a question mark before the season avg'd 40 per punt, and quite a few of those were when UK had the ball within their own 20 yard line.

Almost played the entire game without a fumble or interception, till the one late in the game.

We put up 28 points with Little only rushing for 21 yards.

Fool's gold my friend.

As long as Mike Archer is running this D we have no prayer at all.

Better defense will come with experience and numbers which we now have. This was not the team to start the season against and never will be as long as Pinochio is their coach. We came out of this game with no injuries of note so lets look forward to North Texas and forget about this one.

Ya know down here in Florida you never hear Bowden or Coker complaining about having to play each other first game. I am sure Miami or FSU wouldnt want to play each other first but thats the deal and you have to prepare for it. You know your schedule, you have almost 8 months of off season. Prepare and bring what you got. UK got smacked in the mouth right off the bat and never recovered. Hell even UF is playing bowl teams from last year their first 2 games

Playing Southern Miss in Gainesville to open the season is not on the same level as playingat U of L. I'll take USM over UL any year to open the season.

I think both schools have complained and plan to change the game.

Southern Miss and UL are not in the same football area code any more. UL has moved on.

Good post bourbon. As bad as it was tonight, we still have many more games to play so it is best to look forward and try to build upon some positives tonight.

We gained 24 yrds on the ground and gave up 636 rushing, so we have not improved one bit. Likely we are ranked 100+ worse defenseagain.

The truth is we caught a lot of breaks tonight, or it could have been even more humiliating.

Imagine worse than a 31pt spanking.

We only had 9 first downs compared to 36 for UL?

The only thing to build on there is that RB just put the 1st nail in his coaching coffin.

153 of our 260 total yards came on two pass plays (Burton for 73 and Lyons for 80) that took all of 20 seconds to execute.

This leaves the entire rest of the game that we only amassed another 107 yards.

Pathetic.

As soon as the SEC teams see that you actually have to put a corner on those guys we are doomed to sub-200 yards every game.

Pack your bags Brooks.

I sawa fewpositives tonight. Woodson played very well considering his line is once agian slow, weakand lacks good technique. Our recievers showed promise, despite the fact that Uof L's secondary is horrible. Burton and Lyons are good. I thought Mastay did a pretty good job kicking( especially since the line on our punt team leaked like a rusty bucket. it is encouraging that our boys (despite being less talented and outmanned) didn't appear to quit. We appear to have charecter, just lack talent. Hard to judge Little's performance, since the line was being dominated. i also thought Micah Johnson played very well for a first game freshman, as did Woodyard. Our defensive line had perhaps the worst game I have seen in living memory.

Good thread, BOURBON TOWN CAT FAN (and I must sincerely add that as disappointed as I was about last night's performance, I think that it's a shame that further negativity must also be a part of this thread, which was specificallyintended to look for positives, as hard as they were to find last night). In fact, I was checking the forum and was going to start such a thread if one had not been begun.

I was particularly going to mention Tim Masthay's performance. I admit that I was surprised in his poise on the road AND in having to punt so many times. The young man showed that he had matured. One of my worries before the game certainly did not come to fruition. Another worry had been our having troubles turning the ball over again, and that was not the case. Those were certainly two positives I had not counted on (although I also admit that I had expected a greatly improved defense against the run, but, oops, there I go inserting some unneeded negativity myself).

A third positive is that we did indeed put up twenty-eight points with Little's only rushing for 21 yards. Unbelievable! We did show the ability to spread the field and have some big plays, something many fans had been wanting (and about which I have read very little today).

Individual positive performances other thanMasthaycertainly include Burton (WOW!) and Woodyard, along with Lyons, Micah Johnson, Ashton Cobb's hit, and David Jones and Michael Strickland's getting open(and I'm sure there are many others that did a lot of positive things, noticed by the staff). Actually, I saw some positives from the young secondary, in that they were often right with the speedy Louisville receivers (and a couple offantastic catches weremade by their talented receivers).

Finally, as BigblueDREW just said, the players DID NOT QUIT after falling behind 31-0. That we fansseem to be quitting (notice that's a direct opposite of what our players did), based on reading many threads today, does not make me a happypart of the fan base today, actually, and I was already certainly unhappy because of the team's disappointing performance. :(Again, great thread, BTCF.
