On defense, Wesley had a pretty spectacular night. He made some mistakes, but showed why he is a Butkus nominee.

One example of his determination was on a play were he did not make the play. On Bush's first touchdown, Woodyard met a blocker just beyond the line of scrimmage. He shed the blocker and got a hand on Bush as Bush broke through the line. Woodyard turned, ran through traffic, hurdled a man on the ground and chased Bush from behind. Certainly, Bush was slowed a bit when he put a move on a UK DB, but Woodyard's pursuit was impressive, catching Bush within the five, only to have Bush stumble into the endzone for the TD.

Wesley had better moments in the game, but this one demonstrated his never quit attitude.

I love the way he played with intensity and urgency. He way all over the place and I hope he'll encourage his team mates to play the same way--all out on every play.

He has some talented young teammates. Hopefully, the others will follow his lead.

Ashton Cobb had a big hit. Unfortunately it stood out, because there were not many other big hits by UK's team.

Certainly after watching tape of how Woodyard played, I think the other ten guys on the field will have to be better. And I believe Micah will start next week....jmo

Just a few moments ago I was thinking about starting a thread on WW. Guy plays all out. IMO he has to be one of UK's all time great players.

On a night with few positives, young Cobb's hit definitely stood out. Also, I remember the play you mentioned earlier. If every defender had been putting out the effort Woodyard did, I think our defense would have had a better showing.

Nice thread. :thumbup

I wish we had a whole team of Woodyards. He plays football the way it is suppose to be played.

My wife who knows nothing about football (She kept asking me who had the ball) commented that it seemed the only player on our team was Woodward.

I was at the game and Woodyard was awesome. The fact that he is coached by such a dimwit makes his determination and dedication all the more amazing. I would have a hard time staying so focused when being led by incompetence. I think his final line was somewhere around 10 tckles and 2 TFL's.

On offense, Keenan Burton was equally impressive.

Not to make light of Bush's injury but Woodyard really laid a solid tackle on a much bigger, strongerguy on that play.

He's fearless and plays beyond his size. He lays more than his 212 pounds of crunch when he hits, and he's a smart player.
