The call screeners will have to do yeoman's duty tonight to keep all the bashers off the air and put the pollyannas up front.

I'd love to listen tonight and hear some bombshell such as a coaching shakeup but it will be more of the "I didn't have them ready to play" coachspeak garbage.

It should just start off with a statement of how he loves Lexington, has enjoyed his time in the Bluegrass, but has decided to retire at the end of this season.

IMO, that's all that needs to be said. They can follow that up with calls wishing the coach well for the rest of the hour.

I don't think it's on tonight.

Let me say this. I'm not a fan of Rich Brooks. I've tried to be. This staff can obviously recruit because how they sell kids on this program when they can watch the game is beyond me.

That said, it's the first game. It is not a game I expected to win which is unfortunate because I should at least believe we have a chance. Though I'm not sold Louisville is a Top 10 team, they are a Top 20 team. Before I initiate my annual right of passage calling for Rich Brooks head. I want to see how we play in the next few games. We barely beat Texas State or worse, lose; and get beat soundly by Ole Miss then I'm back in the "get rid of him crowd."

I used to think the won-loss record was going to be the big factor here but now I'm not so sure. He could keep his job at 4-8 if we lose a ton of heartbreakers to superior teams. I also believe he could get axed at 5-7 if we get thumped by the UT's, LSU, and Florida's of the world like we did last night.

I wanted a change 2 years ago. Hell, I wanted a change when they announced him. However, I'm not spending this year hoping he'll be gone. I want to see him succeed as much as anyone but his leash got shorter for me and a lot of fans last night

True, the show is on tomorrow night.

Also, though, CatsSaintsFan, what a fair post yours is. Like you, while I wanted to believe we would beat Louisville, I had not expected to win the game (unless we were to have a distinct advantage in the turnover deferential column). Yet, likewise, I had not expected us to play nearly as poorly as we did, especially in not being able to defend against the run and to run the ball ourselves.

Regardless, like you, Iunderstand that it was ONLY the FIRST game of the season. I think all fans are questioning the coaching staff more today. YET, I am convinced that the best thing for this program is STILL for these guys to start winning this Saturday and somehow make it to a bowl game. There are posts heretoday from fans hoping that Coach Brooks is gone, even if he wins the rest of his games. :(You're singing a different tune here, and I like it.

We lost respect last night, even though we had already been a heavy underdog. We fans who were so anxious for the season to begin and had such high hopes for a bowl game are even down because of how poorly we played , understandably so. HOWEVER, that lost respect can be found again. How this team plays, especially in defending against the run, must change, beginning Saturday. I am still pulling hard for Coach Brooks and his staff to SUCCEED, just as you are. Regardless, respect must, admittedly,be earned on the football field.

Good luck with the callers tomorrow night, Coach Brooks.Better luck with your own players as you try to restore their confidence AND at the same time guide them to play as they are capable of playing, not how that played last evening.

Brooks is conducting an interview on WLAP right now.
