Please shed some additional insight on the subject at hand.

Thanks,

I was there in the UL student section. Much less pleasant than I had anticipated, and I certainly wasn't expecting it to be pleasant to begin with.

I'm working on a column about it that should debut in the next few days.

I was in the endzone UK section. After Bush got hurt, everyone was quiet in our section. Then three or four UL fans stood up, turned around, and asked us to cheer b/c we knew we wanted too.

The other unpleasant fan experience was after the game when a kid constantly talked smack about UK, even moving on to baseball. After hearing 10 minutes of idiotic ranting, I finally shut the kid up briefly asking if he could a) name the UofL coach from last year or b) two players from last year's UofL baseball team. As I anticipated, he didn't know the answer.

I know that each school has fans like that, but it is still disappointing to deal with it.

I was there in the end zone. Unfortunately, a lot of unpleasant behavior out of UL fans in that area. As some Uk fans were leaving they would get out their keys and shake them. Not too bad. BUT one idiot would put them right in the face of people walking by. He was probably in his early 40's and just was taunting people. Finally a mature UK fan went up and spoke to him and calmed him down a little.

A lot of alcohol was flowinhg which made tempers short and I thought there were going to be a few altercations, but thankfully a few cooler heads prevailed.

Game wise, although I do not like watching a game from the end zone, that perspective did offer a few things. One, our defensive ends were terrible at their number 1 job, containment. If our strength is linebacker, then we should want to turn the play inside, yet we gave up the outside all night.

Two, our inside rush was terrible. I do not care how good a team's defensive backs are, without a pass rush, it is difficult to cover a receiver for too long. Brohm had ALL DAY.

Three, our offensive line did a poor job at both run blocking and pass protection. Little had no chance. Woodson did an admirable job considering UL was in his jock in no time at all.

Four, too many times we had to rush the play as the clock was running down, and it did make a differnce on several plays. Friends, that is the coaches fault.

Bottom line. I did not expect to win this gam. A top 15 opponent on their home field is a tough task. BUT I did expect us to compete and come out READY. That did not happen. Again that problem lies with the coaches.

We will have a much better picture after the next two games. We can win both these games. If we do, once again we will be on the road against a top 15 opponent. I will look to see if we are ready and if we compete.

I was at the game. But can't think of much to add to debacle.

If one freashman stood out, it was Trevard (sp?) Lindley at CB.
