1. There is no quarterback controversy.

Pulley got put into a couple of tough situations and failed to show anything. Woodson rebounded from a shaky start to play as well as could be expected, and actually showed some fire throughout.

2. We shouldn't suffer an emotional letdown.

Had we lost by a touchdown, we may have suffered a letdown next game. Considering the way we had our hats handed to us, the coaches should be able to have the Cats razor sharp and focused on their 1-AA opponent.

I try to be rational about UK football, but I have a tough time envisioning anything but a win on Saturday. I will say this. A loss Saturday should signal the end of the Rich Brooks drama, no ifs, ands, or buts. I just can't see it coming to that. Yet.

The only thing I saw that was encouraging at all was that UK did not quit. Even when down 31-0, the UK players acted like they were confused, embarrassed and mad, not beaten. The coaching staff had them completely unprepared to play this game, but theychased the ball all over the field all game long. Telling to me was Brooks's comment about not understanding why the defense missed assignments because they had worked on UL's shifts and motion "for a week." UL prepared for this game nonstop since last season ended. What happened on the field is the difference between preparing for a game for a week versus preparing for it for eight months. After four years at UK, Brooks still doesn't get it.

A positive from me....a game in Commonwealth this Saturday. Weather so far is looking picture perfect. 80s with only 10% chance of rain.

GO BIG BLUE!

Good points, Aike. Also, I'm sure the players feel down in that they have lost some confidence in themselves, BUT you are so right that the narrow, heartbreaking loss like last year causes more of an emotional letdown. Also, as you say, the coaches should at least be better able to get their attention and focus, even for a 1-AA opponent. Good post.
