I was thinking...it's definitely crock pot time of year...and thought this would be a great new topic to get going...so, everyone add your crock pot recipes and lets see if we can get some easy 'ready when you get home' dinner ideas to pass around...good chili recipes, etc.

Good idea! I saw one advertised that I put on my Christmas list, it has a removable crock and a cooking timer. I guess it's pretty bad when you get excited over a crock pot, though:D. I like to cook things slow and seems like everyone hereenjoys the wonderful smell of something cooking all day.

I'll go first: (my favorite kind...easy with less than 5 ingredients!)

Cranberry Roast

Serves 6

1 (16 ounce) can cranberry sauce
1/3 cup French salad dressing
1 onion, sliced
3 pounds pork roast (I would guess you could use beef or even some chicken breasts and it would be just as good)
In a medium bowl, combine the cranberry sauce, salad dressing and onion. Place meat in a slow cooker and cover with the sauce mixture.
Cook on High setting for 4 hours, or on Low setting for 8 hours.

I'm not much for crock pot cooking anymore but I have a couple of things I like.

Quarter a round steak, layer with sliced sweet onion, peppers, and either tomato soup or canned diced tomatoes. Save a little of the soup or tomatoes and add some worchestershire sauce to it and pour over the top. After cooking all day slow, remove the meat and veggies with a slotted spoon. I like to thicken the liquid to make a gravy and pour over meat and mashed potatoes. Makes good sandwiches if any is left over. No need to tenderize the steak. The crock pot will break it down.

I've also found that a crock pot is a great way to have baked potatos waiting when you get home. Wash them and wrap them in aluminum foil like you would if you were going to cook them in the oven...but put them in the crock pot on low before you head to work....add toppings for stuffed potatos and a salad or soup and you have dinner.

I'm all about stuff that requires little preparation after a long day at work.
