I resent how long it took for the players to buy in to Brooks. He... and WE... suffered for it.

I also resent that some fans haven't bought in yet too.

I also resent that some fans haven't bought in yet too.jb, after our players got screwed twice in three years, I think it's pretty much young men's human nature to resent it.
jb, given the players were screwed over twice in three years by their previous coaches, I say their reaction was pretty much human nature for young adult males.

Sorry you resent me, but I'll survive. RB ain't proved he's the right coach for us for the future yetby me. I'm not complaining about him for what's happened before this year as I think it was largely out of his control.

I just don't tend to feel resentment, period. I will say that it is aSHAME that the program suffered because the players did not "buy into" Coach Brooks sooner, but I agree with gerntz that it was also very understandable when young adult males had been hurt bythe loss of either one or two former coaches. If the players had "bought in" earlier,of course, wewould likely havegone to a bowl that first Brooks season and the program would be in better shape. Regardless, some of the players' reactions seemedquite human to me, and I do notfault them orresent them.In fact, as I have often posted, IF we had pulled off either of those two wins that were heartbreaking losses (winning makes players "buy in"), we would have gone to a bowl. Again, it's justa shame.

In regard to usfans, Isurely HOPE Coach Brooks makes believers of all UK fans this season. :)Also, fans' waiting toTHIS SEASONtoevaluate either wayseems fair to me.A small minority's having closed their mind to Brooksfrom the start and KNOWING that he cannot have a winning program here, on the other hand, seems unfair to me, FWIW. :(

I think the fact that Urban Meyer had a lot of success before he got to Gainesville also had a lot to do with how quickly his players bought in to his philosophy. Add that and the talent he is able to bring to Florida and you have a pretty good combination. Brooks, on the other hand, hasn't had the success that Meyer has had which makes it harder for him to find that respect.

3-factors guys!

SoS had great success at FL- so it was proven that FL could win!

Zook took over a program coming off an orange bowl win and a heisman finalist QB and first round WR talent and proved that a bad coach put in a great situation can screw it up too!...

The players were starved for success that when Meyer came in with his winning pedigree it was more natural that bought into his style or atleats appear to be listening to him!..

Brooks came in tough situation as its diff when you have to go back a long way to find the winning mentality! Its a slower process!
