Save yourself the embarrassment for when conference play rolls around.
sUK plays: #7 Louisville, #15 Alabama, and #23 IU
UofL plays: #3 UCONN (twice), #5 Villanova (twice), #8 UK, #14 West Virginia, and #16 Syracuse...not to mention conference tournament play.
Beat it with unranked North Carolina and unranked Kansas. Traditionally good programs gets you no where if they absolutely suck *** this year. They are both a mere shell of their former teams. So save the schedule crap. I would think most of you have learned your lesson after how much crap has come right back to your face. The "weak" BE football conference is now a single point away from being rated a higher conference than the almighty $EC. Umph!

UL's out of conference schedule is one of the weakest in the country. It is almost laughable.
All these years of being in loser conferences and now that UL basketball gets into a real basketball conference, it schedules a load of patsies. UK is the only team out of conference that has any basketball history. I know a lot of UL fans who have season tickets who dread the pre-season.
This is not even debatable.

This is not even debatable.
Yeah, you are right. When you play in a conference that has 5 teams in the top 16 and will probably make up a sixth of the entire NCAA tournament, you usually don't schedule a tough OOC. You plat three ranked teams all season. There is no debate. You are out of your "small mind".

A SIXTH of the tournament???
Since you're such a "stats guy", here's one for you:
One 6th of 64 is 10.666666....
So you're going to say right now that 10 or 11 teams from the Big East are going to the NCAA Tournament?
And HE'S out of HIS mind?
Remember, UofL fan, it's not how others see you. It's how YOU see YOURSELF.
Here endeth the lesson.

Oh, is THAT what a sixth of 64 is???:rolleyes:First of all, I said "about" a sixth....as in almost. They just talked about it on ESPN two nights ago. Sending 9 or 10 teams from a 16 team league is VERY possible. They said if the teams were deserving, that it would probably happen. Nice lesson there. not

It's not going to happen for the following reason:
The teams are going to beat each other up, and probably a team (or two or three) who would normally deserve to get in, won't, due to how many losses they're going to have.
It's a by-product of being in a tough conference, which I'll give you, the Big East is, but there's no bloody way they get ten teams (or more) in the tournament.
Nine would be a stretch, and it's all a moot point anyway, since this is November.
Much like bragging about playing Michigan or USC in the Rose Bowl for a National Championshipin August, before a game is even played.

Who plays three ranked teams all season? Kneestrodomus, let's wait until the season unfolds to make a comment about how many ranked teams UK plays all season. UK, season in and season out, plays the toughest schedules.
Seems you are a bit defensive about this. That is the closest you will come to an admission.

Of course, there is always a chance that Arkansas State, Prairie View, Akron, etc. turns out to be a Top 25 team!!!!

Actually, you said the BE would "probably" make up a sixth of the tournament.

How would you know about scheduling a tough OOC? When has U of L ever scheduled a tough OOC?

UK, season in and season out, plays the toughest schedules.
Yeah, something like that. All those tough teams you have played really prepared you for the tournament the last several years. Interesting how that works.
let's wait until the season unfolds to make a comment about how many ranked teams UK plays all season.
Sure you want to do that. After all the sh!t talkin you did about your football conference only to see it plummet all the way down to about equal to ours, you may need all the help you can get. Somehow I see IU dropping out very shortly. They are duty. BTW, something you should NEVER do is guesstimate who you "MAY" be playing in these tournaments. I'll add Texas and who ever else when it happens. We "planned" on playing UNC in our tournament last season, but Iowa had other plans. They may do the same for you.
Of course, there is always a chance that Arkansas State, Prairie View, Akron, etc. turns out to be a Top 25 team!!!!
They have just as good a shot as any team from the $outh Eastern Creampuff. That is no joke either. Your conference is pathetic. No wonder you have the all time wins record. You play in a football conference. Put Suk in the ACC or Big East and watch them tailspin.

PS, FWIW (not much), CBSSportsline has 6 teams from the BE going to the NCAA Tournament, and4 to the NIT.
NCAA- Connecticut, Louisville, Syracuse, West Virginia, Villanova, Georgetown
NIT- Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Notre Dame, Marquette
None- DePaul, Rutgers, St. John's, Providence, Seton Hall, S. Florida
On the face of it, I don't see too much to argue about with those predictions.
But, as I said before, it's all a moot point until Jan/Feb/March anyway.I was curious to see what other prognosticators were saying.

I saw ESPN tonight and Steve Lavin said that he thought possibly 8 teams could make it from the Big Least.

As unranked Florida beats a ranked Syracuse, we are reminded that puffing chests before the season is played is worthless.
Anyone doubt that the Gators enter the top 25 after beating two top twenty teams this week?
And, its funny that Knees is now advocating a weak preseason schedule as a way to do well in the tournament. Rationalize!!!!
Good thing that the Orangemen don't have many more preseason challenges on their schedule!!!! :D

I could see it. I could also see 5 or 6. (Hey, it's Lavin......)
A lot depends on how much they beat each other up, which WILL happen.
On one hand, it's good to play better competition before the NCAA Tournament. On the other, it can cost you.
Personally I think for the BE, it'll work to their teams' advantage.
The lower-seeded teams that get in will be better than some seeded higher, due to records.
That's why it's always better to have a solid OOC schedule, and a tough (not debilitating) conference schedule.
But, that's why the BE may very well have a team seeded 6,7, 8, or even lower, who might end up in the FF.
But, back to the original point of the thread:
Regardless of the conference schedule, were I a UofL fan (:shock::shock:) I would be p**sed to have to pay for these OOC games.
Also, there's the inevitable "Our conference schedule is tough."
OK. Given.
How 'bout this:
"Okay, we play a really tough conference schedule. Wouldn't we get, (ahem), BETTER by playing a tougher OOC schedule??"
