No smarty-pants stuff here. Devise your game plan to pull off the upset of the decade for our beloved program!

First, I say we stay with the pass to set up the run, rather than vice versa. Don't waste ANY possessions trying to establish the run first against the Gators. It won't work.

Second, hold onto the ball. We must NOT turn it over. This will lead to the traditional avalanche of points that buries us deep in a hole.

Third, pressure Leak, but don't over-pursue. He's average at best when under the gun.

Last, add in these favorable conditions: No sweltering heat, lethargic Gators overlooking the Cats, keep the defense off the field.

Go CATS!

Seriously, the only way UK pulls the upset Saturday is with considerable help from UF. That's not a slam on UK. We're just not on their level. UF has the ability to put points on the board fast. No lead would be safe.

My first thought (excuse the smarty pants answer) was a malaria epidemic in Gainesville, but then I pondered some more.

I don't think that offense is the key because I think the Cats actually have an offense that can score some points against the Gators. Of course, the offense can't be laying the ball on the turf or throwing interceptions ... that would be the death knell.

I think it would take a near perfect game out of the defense (something the Cats, unfortunately, have been close to in recent years), Florida playing sluggish and Florida making some turnovers.

I agree the throw setting up the run might be the best plan against the Gators as 2nd or 3rd and long would be tough to overcome, especially in the Swamp.

I don't think weather should be an issue. It's not as torrid here in the south as it has been and the game is a night game, so that shouldn't se stacked against the Cats.

Unfortunately, for this game, my head tells me very different things than my heart. :?

For us to win, it will take a variety of gifts:

We must score on special teams.

Defense must force five turnovers.

O-Line must play better than they ever have.

Andre must realize that this is his "National Moment" and rise to occassion.

Keenan must share in the "National Moment".

And we don't settle for field goals (except to win in overtime). :)

The Cats have to force a lot of turnovers and then take advantage of those turnovers by scoring.

The O line has to give Andreand Co. enough protection to gain yardage, move the chains, and eat up some clock. Kentucky needs to shorten the game as much as possible and eat up some clock on its offensive possessions. Our D can only slow the Gators down, we won't stop them.

Overall, I think the players just need to come into the game loose, with the attitude that they have nothing to lose. They should play with reckless abandon, leave it all on the field, and have some fun. There is some advantage in being a huge underdog.

Like I. Melvin, I think special teams and turnovers are the key. We may be able to score a few points on Florida, and if we get a few more off Special Teams, that would be a BIG help. But, I cannot see our defenseeven slowing Florida down, let alone holding them in check. That means the Gators will have to do it for us. If they self-destruct as much as Ole Miss did, then maybe we can make a game of it.

I cannot envision a scenario where a healthy 2006 UK beats a healthy 2006 UF in fair weather conditions. That said, there is a lot to learn about the Cats from this away game. I'll be watching most especially Andre's coolness under pressure in the Swamp. I wonder if he'll be able to check off his reads quick enough as he'll see alot of pressure this week. Hopefully he has. This will tell me alot about next year. Defensively,I'll be looking for playmakers in the secondary and run stoppers in the middle. Hopefully the coaches will add more of these difference makers next year and combined with continued improvement perhaps the sieve up the middle will disappear and our speed will get a little closer to the opposition's WR's. Like I've said, we're another year away from competing against top tier teams IMHO. Consider this game another learning experience.

I hope Joker has been saving some tricky plays involving Curtis Pulley. If we can steal a few yards and maybe a TD in a key situation it might give us that swagger we would need to knock them off.

+ 2 or 3 in the turn over catagory

improve the "net" punting yards

eliminate the big completions on 3rd down by the opponent

O line to drive and protect

D line to put pressure in the back field

Dline and LBs to keep the running game in check

I agree with the throw to set up the run point. Florida's front seven is really good. Offensively, it's going to take some big plays and maybe a good trick play or two to get us rolling. Defensively, we have to stopp DeShawn Wynn and the rest of the Gator ground game and then put the pressure on Leak. On special teams we can't allow big returns in the kicking game like we did against Ole Miss and we need for Rafael to return a punt for a touchdown (if he is healthy enough to play). I don't see us being too much of a challenge for Florida, but I'd like for us to put up a respectable showing.

I don't see any scenario other than real bad weather helping our cause....or hurting theirs.

I just think it is important for UK to put up a good fight, come out prepared(unlike UL game) and not be intimidated. Let the score take care of itself. Stay in the game as long as we can and compete on every series.....period. We are not in their calss as yet but we should not be embarrassed on National TV either. We are better than that, IMO.

Play hard...you never know.

Come Out Swinging

Win the toss, receive the kick, and run it back for a touchdown

Bend but do not break defense

Control both lines of scrimmage

Spike their gatorade with X-Lax.

Give us the same amount of turnovers as last week, and some good calls and it could be a victory, however I just don't see UK winning possible in any way unless Florida finds a way to lose.

Lay the wood! UK football has not been very good for most of my 55 years, but I can remembertimes whenyou played Kentucky you'd better be prepared to get hit. I don't mind losing as long as the opposition is hurting the next day.
