View Full Version : Please do not go to a prevent
That is what a prevent Defense does for you.

Archer should be canned for that.
All it does is prevent you from winning.
The offense deserves better than that. :X

Come on guys. Ya don't play nine in the box in a two minute drill.
And sorry, but if you're complaining about the game the defense is playing tonight, well.....
Not complaining about the defensive play at all. However, we CHANGED our style of Defense that last drive and it COST us.
That is a coaching decision and in this case a POOR one.

agree that I didn't like the prevent, but if you're going to blast Archer for that then you've got to give him some credit for the D we played the first 28 minutes.

Well, they sure did not play the same defense that last series. Who made that choice?
The defense has been stellar, but why not play the same defense on that drive? No blitzes, no stunts...prevent. Archer outcoached himself, which isn't hard to do.
I don't blame the kids...they are playing what they are coached. Even Brooks was not happy with it and he shouldn't be.

Well Bigblue, I know that Archer is everyone's favorite whipping boy - maybe he should be, I don't know, but don't you think it's rather irrational to brag about how the defense is playing and not give the coach a lot of the credit???

I'm sure you have a valid point Bob. Honestly, all I really know about football is that I watch it and I only "chronically" root for two teams - Kentucky and Green Bay. So, I'm no student of the game as the saying goes.
I didn't like it either, but I'm not ready to can the guy over it. I just think that, thus far, his side of the ball has been outstanding. Especially considering they spent virtually the entire first quarter on the field.

I just want our kids to be put in the best position to succeed. They deserve it.
I get too emotional over Archer simply because I think he is a poor DC. But he gets the credit for a great 1st half ...except for the last series. :)
Hopefully, the D will keep it up. Pretty proud of them myself.

I disagree with that. Rarely do I disagree with you but.... gotta say that these coaches hatch their plans during the week leading up the game. They change schemes but its all according to gameplan.

Fella I've been "ON" for 42 years, can you say the same. I hate the prevent and I hate coaches that put kids in a position to fail. That is EXACTLY what Archer did by going to a prevent. I seen him screw up good defensive efforts for YEARS, and yes I am sick of it.

Archer had a prevent fumble recovery defense
That is just a silly post.

The problem I have with the defense,in any formation,is tackling.More often than not they look like they try to strip first tackle second.Who teaches this MA or their high school coaches?Whoever it is somebody on that staff needs to teach better technique.

I love it when we blitz. Yes UK will get burned but this is the only way UK has a chance. I like the defensive calls there. Please keep that strategy.
