I give him enough grief..it is time to give him some praise.
The game plan was solid...the team was prepared. Execution was a the issue late, especially by the O-line and tackling. However, RB was on his game tonight.
Keep it up and we go Bowling, IMO.

Fair enough, Bob. First time I've seen them play a tough team without ever quitting.

:thumbup:beer::thumbup:beer::thumbupBoy UK looked great the first half. Florida made the adjustments and UK simply could not keep up the level. Its been a while when I am actually excited about playing Central and meeting South Carolina in two weeks. If UK plays like this, they will have a good shot of an upset againt Spurrier. First, focus on next weeks game and yes, Brooks did a nice job tonight.

I really believe the coach who is growing is Joker Phillips.Ans the addition of Randy Sanders has been one of the biggest pluses yet.I thought Heggins and Petri would have equal growth, but perhaps they don't really have the talent to work with that they need,as both lines got whipped that second half.Totally agree on Brooks.plan.It would be interesting to see what he could do withmore SEC caliber players.

I thought Brooks had a great game plan for today. This game was much closer than it should have been. My only qualm with the coaching staff is the prevent defense at the end of the first half after we had scored the touchdown. That really hurt the teams moral at halftime having been scored on so quickly.
Come to think of it, I've never really seen the prevent defense prevent anything, so why is it in every college and pro playbook in the land?

The only times I've seen the prevent work would be against a hail mary kind of play. I don't think I've seen it work for a whole drive.

What does that say about our coaching if he can't motivate them to not quit against tough teams?

I kept thinking last night about how much Woodson seems to have improved under Randy Sanders' tutelage.
Of course some of that is Woodson's maturity, but UK was doing things last night on offense that I haven't seen since Hal Mumme. The offensive continuity was very, very smooth. Andre was in complete control of the team, and really, even when the O-line started to fade, he kept his wits about him and didn't make any crazy plays.

Well-said, ukbob. Nice post. Too, yes, if we play as well as we played against Florida each and every game, I agree that WE GO BOWLING. :)
Too, like another poster, I also give KUDOS to Coach Phillips. That we were playing without three starters on offense made the performance, specifically the first half performance on offense, that much more impressive. Tonight on Brooks' show, I learned that defensive lineman Jason Leger played about half the game on the offensive line after only THREE days of practice there (because of Turituri's tendonitis).
I was also impressed that our defense forced Florida to punt THREE outof its FOUR first possessions. Too, the time they were not forced to punt was the trick play, and we had actually covered the reverseitself well. So KUDOS to Coach Archer, too, while we're handing out thepraise. :)
Of course, our defense against the running quarterback wasanother story. That Central Michiganalso has on its roster a physical quarterback that can run well is scary in itself. :(Good job, all the UK coaches, BUT there is still a lot of work to do this weekbefore the Central Michigan game, perhaps partly of a psychological nature, and I'm sure thecoaches feel the same.
