I read somewhere that Ky was pulling out all stops to assure that this year's madness would be over the top. Any ideas or suggestions as to what we could do to make it even more impressive for the recruits? My suggestion, try and get all alums who are or have been in the NBA to come back for a little visit, don't ya think that having a chat with Tayshaun would have to impress? I think that would be legal as long as he just talked about his time at KY...........but what do I know?

This is going to be the most important MM in the history of the event. UKAA will be hard-pressed to top what they did last year, but they might just have to.

One suggestion I have is...and I know this is going to sound harsh, but...separate the men's and women's events.

That's not a crack on Coach DeMoss or the state of UK women's hoops at all. Heck, the women's team is going to go into the '06-'07 season ranked higher than the men. Coach DeMoss has done a wonderful job.

But 90% of the fans at Midnight Madness are there to see the men.

I went to my first one last year, and found msyelf getting fairly...bored during the women's scrimmage. The women take up about an hour and a half of the thing, and that's too much, IMO.

I think you could streamline it: announce the team, have a three point and dunk contest, play some five on five, and then get everybody out of there in an hour pumped and ready for the season.

Here's a suggestion. However, i'm sure there is some kind of NCAA violation here.... We always hear about former players coming back and playing with the team during the summer pick up games... Why not during BBM!?

I think it would be awesome to see former players team up against our new guys... I can just see Prince, Bogans, Rondo (doubt it), Eric Daniels, Chuck Hayes and Magliore team up to play our guys in a scrimmage... Or, have them split up and mixed in with the current players in a current/former Cat scrimmage! I think that would get Rupp rocking! But like I said, I'm sure there's some kind of violation if these guys are still in the NBA...

Last year's Madness lasted two and a half, three hours.

Why would it be a violation to have former players playing a pickup game???

i thought the same thing, but all I was saying was who knows with the NCAA.

last year jeff shepard and cameron mills participated in a three point contest against ravi moss and patrick sparks i believe... i dont see the difference between this and a pick up game myself, even if it is during big blue madness

I agree... so maybe it could happen... what do you think...

Morris, Crawford, Bradley, Perry, Carter

Vs.

Prince, Bogans, Rondo, Hayes, Magliore

I'm sure the NBA players have a tough time getting down there with their seasons right around the corner as well..

It probably wouldn't matter that much if they interacted with the CURRENT players - they would likely need to avoid the recruits though.

Great idea. Why did they combine them?
