DeSales beat Western in AA playoffs 55-8. Western beat the Colts in their last meeting. DeSales plays Owensboro Catholic next.

My wife's school, Bullitt East, beat Boyle County 35-33.

Interestingly, my wife has taught at football powerhouses her entire career. She began at Owensboro High, which went to the state championship game behind Bo Smith in 2001. Then she moved to Bullitt East, which has been on a hellacious three-year run. Also, she did her student teaching at Danville High, which won the state championship the year she was there. To top it off, she did many of her observation hours in college at Boyle County High.

Too bad I'm not much of a football fan. :?

A great game and heartbreaking loss for my uncle's team, John Hardin as they tried to convert a 2pt attempt after a TD with 11 secs to go fearing that overtime would be too much against a very deep St. X team. 20-21

Warren Central 36, Christian County 35
No one could accuse Warren Central of doing things the easy way on the football field in 2005, and its Class AAAA, Region One final Friday night was no different.
After James Willetts returned a Blake Ayers interception for a touchdown late in the third quarter, the Dragons trailed 35-14 and looked to be just 12 minutes from the end of their season.
But an Ayers touchdown pass to Nikko Beason on 4th-and-21 spurred a 22-point 4th quarter rally, capped by Robert Cobb's 29-yard field goal with :12 remaining, and Central advanced to its second Class AAAA state semifinal in three seasons, 36-35.
Just like two seasons ago, the Dragons host Louisville St. Xavier in the semifinal. The Tigers kept their 27-game in-state win streak alive with a 21-20 win over John Hardin.

Go Dragons! One of the best public shool athletics programs in the state.

Wouldn't it be nice to see Trinity vs St. X for the private school state title and Henry Clay vs Warren Central for the public school state title 4A?

Hoorah! Bullitt East has come along way from my days from 80-82. Back then our football team was undersized and undermanned. We were 0-fer the first season and won only one game our second season (my senior year).
Thanks to the involvement of the BE Boosters and the increasing population of Mount Washington, we've got a perennial contender now.
My Senior year we graduated about 120 students in the school's first class. Slim pickins at the time to build a football team, that's for sure.:)
