Has to be Turd Sparks. As he goes, so goes the University of Kentucky basketball team. While Rondo may be the best player, Sparks is the most important and without teams concentrating on Rondo's penetrating ability, Sparks wouldn't be able to hang around the three point line waiting for Rondo to pass him the ball. I think Pitino will concentrate on putting the clamps on Turd and let Rondo do as his thing.

The truth is, I don't think you can concentrate on just one player. If you let Rondo do his "thing", beware. You shouldstart thinking about stopping Sims... as well. We have a lot of combinations that could workwith just about anyopponent we face this year (especially with Randolph)... and as long as the "trees" aren't released in the wrong situations. Good point none-the-less.

4TC, PLEASE tell me you don't actually think you can focus on shutting down Patick Sparks and in doing so, shut down the Wildcat offense. I understand loyalties and all that, but surely you can't really believe that. (Now you might HOPE that's what will happen, but c'mon...)

To me it looks like UK's perimeter game against UL's inside game. If Padgett is back look for us to go inside to get our points. I like Padgett, Tello, and B. Johnson against Sims and Perry a lot. If Morris somehow comes back this could change, but right now it looks like Uk has the better guard play and Ul the better interior play. It should be a very interesting game.

That's a pretty fair analysis. One thing for sure, and we all know this, it's gonna be a war. It always is when the Cats and the Cards lock up in basketball. Of course, knowing ESPN, despite how good of a game ours is, they'll probably find some reason to go with Duke as the lead story.

BB75, it's not really smack, it just an observation. I would say the same for UofL and Taquan Dean, but Dean is much more consistent than Sparks.
Against Lipscomb Sparks had just 5 points 0 steals and 0 assists. Can you say that UK would have beaten a decent team with the effort they put up against Lipscomb?
Against Iowa Sparks had 7 points 3 TO's and 2 assists. UK losses that one.
Against WVU Sparks had 25 points 6 assists and 2 TO's. UK beats a good team by 14.
I'm not saying UK is one dimensional, I'm just saying in the big games you guys are going to need Sparks to step up. Lord knows the "Big Men" aren't going to.

Well, okay, now that you've explained it in depth, I can see your point. And up to this point in the season, your assessment about Sparks and his contribution is correct. I don't know that it will continue that way the rest of the season, but that remains to be seen.
Oh, and I know you guys, for whatever reason, have selected our seven footers as the "designated slammees" for this season, and that's okay (like I said, if not them, you'd just find someone else) but don't be so quick to count them out. Say what you want about the 'Cats, but Tubby has a way of getting the team ready for tournament time.

You make an interesting point. If this were on the regular board, this would be good fodder. As it is...
...Cards STINK! :D
(P.S. Rondo MAY BE our best player? May be? You THINK?)

There's NO WAY louisville will be able to defend Rondo's pentetration and the kick out to Sparks (or Sims) for the three ball. It's gonna be a long game for the cards trying to defend those 3! W/ or w/o Randolph, you wouldn't be able to defend our backcourt.
