Total Defense, we have dropped to the bottom of the list.

#118, Ball State, lost to Central Michigan last night.
Although they lost, they held them to 18 points, and gave up 364 yards.

I don't care how anyone might like to spin it, but there is absolutely no excuse for a group of kids recruited to play SEC football, regardless of how young and inexperienced they might be, to be ranked dead last in all of college football in total defense. Our offense is just as young for the most part and while they aren't exactly world beaters themselves, they are at least a respectable unit. No reason why the defense shouldn't be at least respectable and somewhat competitive. I said it before, counting on turnovers to bail us out will only get us so far, teams like LSU don't consistently make those kinds of mistakes for us to capitalize on.

If this doesn't wake people up, nothing will. EVER.
How do you excuse this? If you are in Mike Archer's corner, I would like to know why? You have to be a closet UL fan to want Mike Archer around much longer. Why doesn't he do the honorable thing and resign. This afternoon. Even Richard Nixon resigned when he knew he didn't have the people's confidence. Is he a better man than Archer?

Disclaimer: I am NOT calling out any of our brethren of the nation with the following comments.
A few ofour fellow fanshave hung their hats on points allowed by our D and chosen to disregard themassive amounts of yards our D has consistently given up.
Well folks, that's the second time this year it's reared up and bitten us on the arse along with all the bullets we've dodged.
There's a reason that they track how many yards a D gives up. It's not an insignifigant stat.
If it weren't for the miscues of our opponents, we could easily be 1-6 right now.
Once again....not calling anyone out or looking to quarrel.
Just using it as an illustration for the discussion.

I've been saying it since last year, Archer is no good! Now UK is at the bottom ranking in defense in the NCAA. Simply amazing..haha!!
Okay, now is a good time as any for Archer to step down...... or get fired. It can't get any worse now... and the sad thing is that the Cats do have talent.......
If UK does not make it to a bowl it will be because of the defense...

Really - where is the honor of going to a bowl game when we have a stat like this? We have the WORSTdefense in the NCAA. The WORST. How can you care about going to a bowl game when you can't beat a top 100 team (just guessing here - maybe Ole Miss is in the top 100).

No offence Spanish, but this fish stinks from the head down, the whole lot of them need to turn in resignations, from Barnhart on down (including Brooks). I just don't see how anyone can find anything good from last night.

No offense was taken. It would do our program good if Brooks made an annoucenment he was hanging it up to spend more time with his family.
Some where, some place there is an aspiring young coach who is willing and able to move our program forward. UL found one at Auburn. Maybe we can find one if we start looking.

I still say that if Archer is out mid-season, it has to happen this week with a Bye. I don't know that they want to disrupt the team that much with out having some time for adjustments. However, if they are the worst defense in the nation, then disruption may be the best thing to do. I know we had injuries and i know we aren't quite there yet, but we should be closer. I still don't buy that Brooks and everyone needs to go. I would be more content with the leaving/firing of Archer who obviously can't cut it. I predicted a better defense than offense this season. I apparently ama big liar after these statistics are out. I think the offensive side of the ball are having some positives and would prefer to stay out of messing that up. Concentrate your disappointment on the defense. Don't try and can everyone at once. That couldn't happen until the end of the season anyway. I still say this is Archer's last year here. I don't know what else will happen, but I see Brooks and Joker back next season. Special Teams would probably be left alone. The defense will be overhauled with at least a new DC or a promotion from someone on the D coaching staff and then filling someone else's position on the coaching staff. Bottom line is that changes SHOULD be done. Whether they come sooner or later, i dont know. Before next season, there should be some new faces around the program, and I'm not referring to the recruits.

119 out of 119. I'm sorry, but MA should NOT be the DC for the game vs Miss St. HE should be given his walking papers right now. Let one of the assistants handle it for the rest of the year and find a DC in the off season.

Archer made some great adjustments at the half also . LSU came out and scored in 4 plays I'm sorry for the kids but Archer is a disaster.:thumbdown

He will likely be here for the rest of the season and then the evaluation will happen. We are fighting for the elusive Bowl bid. Regardless of his performance(which I think pretty much is el stinko) the disruption now would be as bad as letting him stay.
Just play it out. Make each game a Bowl game and see what happens.

:wildcatfaceI know there are several folks that don't or won't believe it, but if you make Chuck Smith the DC right now, our defense gets 100 % better overnight. I'm sick of watching this crappy schemethat MikeArcher thinks is a defense. He can stick gap controlin his rear end and go back to being a position coach someplace else, as far as I'm concerned. I know Catholic grade school coaches here in Louisvillethat run a better defensive scheme than thisknucklehead. Give me a break, please !!!

He is my pick as well. That is the move I wish would happen.

Can't be any worse than what we already have. What the hell, give him a shot.

I am ready to give Chuck Smith a shot. At least he could finish out this season and maybe bring us up a notch or two from 119.
We have some young talent on the squad that needs good coaching. They are not getting it from Mike Archer or Rich Brooks.

We were told before the season started that the defense would be improved, and sure nuff,it has, from one of the worst ,to the worst. Now thats improvement.Of course course considering that if the current sophs and frosh stay two more years, and the staff stays intact,UK may regress to 110th out of 119 in D1 football.
And that will be something to look forward to.

OK.....we just got blown out in our LSU-Bowl...:lol:I went and looked at the scores that some of you picked and I believe there was two people who picked UK to win 90% of the picks were LUS blow outs and the first thing you look at is how we are 119 in defense. Mountaincat you are calling for Brooks and Archer to be fired yet you picked LSU 52 UK 13 how is that? The coaches will be evaluated at the end of the season if changes need to be made I am sure Mitch will make them. Lsu is one of the best teams in the nation and had just lost 2 close games One they should of won at Auburn and had just allowed 60 points scored againt them all year. In my opinion if our offense had kept the ball longer the defense would not have been as bad. The last time I checked Coach Smith was coaching part of our defense so how would he be any better. Some of you people need to chill and root for 3 more wins we can do it,

Dude, my predicted score included knowing that our team is coached by Brooks and company. The player talent is there to do much better than the result we saw. Time for RB to focus on keeping the carrot &raisin salad wiped off of his chin......
