LEXINGTON, Ky. — In theory, Rich Brooks is all for open weeks.

In practice, the University of Kentucky football coach isn't certain his is falling at the best time.

"I'd like to get the taste out of my mouth by going out and playing this weekend," Brooks said yesterday during his weekly media teleconference.

The taste he's talking about is the bitter bayou flavor left by the Wildcats' 49-0 loss Saturday night at Louisiana State, the last game UK (3-4, 1-3 Southeastern Conference) will play until it travels to Mississippi State on Oct. 28.

I am thankful for the open week. As a fan, I need rest as much if not more than the team and coaches. This roller coaster ride has me dizzy.

I am looking forward to some rest and relaxation next weekend and taking care of some personal business that is long over due.
