This is confirmed. Thompson is a 6-8 ish PF, who was a BIG fellow with a lot of baby fat, he's lost 40 pounds and played very well in Vegas. Currently, he's not listed as an elite type player, but certainly one that should get better and better.

Well, if he's coming on Big Blue Madness I think he will make up his mind then! The energy and sheer pandemonium of that event, with the fans and all should boast well in our favor!

Unfortunately yes. However, Thompson is a low post "banger" that would compliment Wright well. We cannot depend on BBM anymore to lure recruits. We have been burned too many times lately by Duhon/Rice to think our BBM is any better than the next. Early and often attention is the key.

I don't think Duhon ever came to Big Blue Madness. When Tubby had his in home visit with Duhon, he promised to visit UK before deciding where to go to college. Then he renigged on that promise by committing to Duke on his visit there.
However, your main point is still valid. We have lost some good recruits after they visited BBM. I remember one year when 4 blue chiprecuits who visited Big Blue Madness signed with Duke.

Duhon never made it to BBM. That's basically what I was saying. We have a history of thinking that BBM is our Mariano Rivera, always closing the deal. That's simply not the case anymore.

Sorry NotFrank. I reread your post more carefully. I misunderstood it the first time. I agree 100% with you. Good post!

Well, hopefully, once the add-on to Memorial is finished that will be a big reason for committing to Kentucky.
But I still say, opportunities are endless at KY! Players can come in and become fan favorites, become stars, easily.

They can do that at almost all of the top programs. The facility upgrade will help. Winning and championships and FFs help more.

You know, I have to say that it's pretty cool that his top four schools are
UK
UNC
UConn
and
*Gonzaga*
Good for Gonzaga! 10 years ago, who would ever have imagined that they'd be able to pull that off.

Heck, 10 years ago, I wouldn't have imagined UConn being able to pull that off.

Love watching the Zags play and Mark Few has done a remarkable job ...
BUT, does it seem to y'all that Gonzaga has hit a wall?
Does Few need to move to a bigger pond?

Dan Monson should get most of the credit for where Gonzaga is, not just Few.
To me, Gonzaga's rise shows how important it is to get good players. Coaches? Coaches are a dime a dozen. But solid, program-building (or, in Kentucky's case, program-sustaining) players are very difficult to land. If you can get them, as Gonzaga has, you'll win games. I don't care who the coach is.
This is maybe why Few has not stepped up to a "bigger" job thus far--he realizes that he's in a perfect, insular situation where there's not too much criticism and his program has become "sexy" to mid-level recruits. You go to a bigger place, the pressure ratchets up and you are suddenly in a conference where EVERY team--and not just one, as is the case in the WCC--has a couple of studs. Monson has found that out in Minnesota. (Though I realize that that analogy, given Minnesota's probation, is not a perfect one.)
