Coordinator takes blame for UK woes

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Mike Archer has been coaching football since 1976. It takes a lot to surprise the University of Kentucky defensive coordinator.
So the thought that he's being vilified on Internet message boards and crucified on call-in shows comes as no great shock.
Statistically speaking, the Wildcats (3-4, 1-3 Southeastern Conference) are the worst defense in NCAA Division I-A.
And if fans want a scapegoat for UK's defensive struggles and its two-game losing streak, Archer said yesterday he'll oblige.
