You know, Curry may stink as a football coach, but the man has character. He is right on the money in this article about sports (and society in general).

Ditto - great article.

Too bad that $$$$$$ makes all the decisions.

Curry is a good man. The problem with the existence of the "Lethal Few" that he speaks of should be understood to have a direct correlation with the "Moral Few" that exists today in college coaching. It'sfar too long been all aboutthe dollar bills. There's nothing "college" about the majority of "College Football".

If thereexisted real standards for collegeentrance I doubt that the "Lethal Few" would everhave a one o'clock exhibition of their violent dispositions. In our twisted world these same "Lethal Few" will likely blow through more money in their next five years than most of us will earn in a lifetime of doing real work. They will be compensated like kings because they possess an oddity of mind and body that people are willing to pay for. This same oddity of mind will in the end land the majority of them in jail, or at the very least cracked out, riddled with disease, and penniless.

I predict that if we'rearound in 25 years you will see that the personal stories of success and destruction among athletes such as that of O.J. and Mike Tyson will be completely commonplace.

As Mr. T said, Bill Curry has CHARACTER. Great read.

From the article:

"I wish the coach would teach my son how to behave," exclaim the parents.

That whole phenomenon - irresponsible parents and the problems theycause and foster - gets far too little notice and comment these days. By like token, those same irresponsible parents get way too much press when they're complaining aboutwhat happens when their children interact with teachers or police or whoever else they want to gripe about and blame.

That the kids mother wants a football coach to teach her son, now essentialy a grown man, how to act says it all doesn't it.

When young kids grow up as thugs in middle and high school, why sholuld they change when they go to college and get more freedom? A strong father figure, with the fear of getting ones *** kicked for stepping out of line, is what every kid needs growing up.

The University of Miami president looks like a total buffoon. She has put Miami football above the image and reputation of a fine university.

Many people judge the University of Miami and the City of Miami based on what we see on the field. That may not be fair but words like the ones coming out of her mouth reinforce that image. Fair or not fair.
