Ladies,
Who has their shopping all done and wrapped and who has nothing... how do you usually get ready for Christmas.............are you an early bird or are you out on Christmas eve? I usually am out on Christmas eve running around like a chicken without a head, but for some reason this year I am DONE! I am sure that I will be out there on Christmas eve just because it is so much fun!

I have to be careful about shoppingearly...sometimes it's all I can do to wait until Christmas to give the gift. I gave my daughter a few "birthday gifts" (Dec. 3rd) that I had intended for Christmas during her Thanksgiving visit.Three pairs ofsmart wool socks and a purse, even though I am paying for something else she needs as her gift. I try to show restraint, really I do :?.

Speaking of giving gifts early, I also gave my daughter a copy ofa "vintage" Betty Crocker Picture Cook Book that's been republished this year. It's in a ring binder with a stenciled-like design on the front...BC has another ring binder version, but that isn't it...this is the 1950'scommemorative edition. It's one my mom used a lot when I was growing up and still uses. Don't know if anyone remembers a mom/grandmothercooking from this one, but it's neat.Aside from containing some good, simplerecipes (and some really dated ones), the comments from that era are fun to read (like..."the clever wife knows...;)").Iboughtmy copyat Borders.

I'm somewhere in the middle. I'd go nuts if I waited until Christmas Eve, but I'm not usually done before the first of December. I just can't get into the spirit of it right now, not with it being 70 degrees outside. :PNormally I try to get the shopping done by mid-December, with wrapping to follow shortly afterward.
I try not to buy gifts too early because if it needs to be returned, it's harder if it's an older item. Last year, my SIL gave me a few things that were too small for me. I tried to take them back, and the store had no record of the clothes being in their inventory, so I was stuck with them. Plus I tend to forget what all I've bought people if I don't shop in a big cluster.
