:cool:Thanks Jon, I was in the sixth grade at the time and still remember listening to the game on radio with my dad.

Thanks for the link. I am glad to see the Chieftains (now PC Redhawks) back in Div 1. The NCAA title game in 1958 was my second game to see the Cats. In fact, I had never seen them prior to that (no TV) For UK fans the only link was radio. The first game I saw was the night before when we beat Temple with All American Guy Rogers and a future pro with Philadelphia.
Seattle had one of my all time favorite players, Elgin Baylor. I was smitten by his play and he became an instant hero that I continued to follow during his Laker days. Elgin Baylor was one of the greatest to ever play the game.
This means a lot to me and I am going to try my best to be in Lexington for the 50th Anniversary of our 5th NCAA Title. It was a great team, a great game and they will always be the Chieftains to me.

UK playing rematches of past NCAA championship games is kind of rare; losing them to anyone but Duke is even more uncommon.
UK played Baylor (rematch of 1948) four times afterward, winning all four, with two in the early 1960s and the last in December 1979. All were in Lexington.
UK played Oklahoma A&M/Oklahoma State only once after the 1949 title game, beating them in the 1974 UKIT.
UK faced off against Kansas State (1951) four more times: twice in the UKIT in the 1960s, away in 1971, and in the 1976 NIT. UK won all four.
To date, UK has not played Seattle again.
Rematches of the 1978 title game against Duke saw four straight UK losses (1979, 1980, 1988 and 1992, with 2 of the 4 in NCAA regional finals), UK beating them in a 1998 regional final, UK losing to them in 1998 and 2001. Three of those losses were in overtime.
UK beat Syracuse the year after beating them for the title, then lost to them in the second round of the 2000 NCAA tourney.
UK has gone 3-0 vs. Utah since the 1998 title game, including two wins in the NCAA tourney.
4-0 vs. Baylor (2-2 in football)
1-0 vs. Oklahoma State (0-0 in football)
4-0 vs. Kansas State (3-1 in football)
0-0 vs. Seattle (0-0 in football)
1-6 vs. Duke (0-0 in football)
1-1 vs. Syracuse (0-1 in football)
3-0 vs. Utah (0-0 in football)
14-7 overall (5-4 in football)
Rematches gainst teams who beat UK in NCAA finals:
0-0 vs. UTEP (1-0 in football)
3-2 vs. UCLA (0-0 in football)
0-1 vs. Arizona (0-0 in football)
3-3 overall (1-0 in football)
It's not often that UK has a winning record in football against any group of opponents . . . seems to me they maybe need to schedule a home and away with Oklahoma State or Kansas State or Duke or Syracuse!
