A friend of mine told me today that Michael Irvin was arrested again over the weekend. Apparently he was pulled oved for speeding and they searched his vehicle for probable cause and found a pipe.
I cant find any info on the internet about it and I was wondering if it was true.

True.
Irvin claimed the pipe was a friend's. Said the friend was staying at his house and trying to get off drugs. Claimed that he took the pipe to his car because he didn't want his sons handling it.

I don't see how a man gets arrested for posessing a pipe with no drugs? Is that the same as arresting someone for robbing a bank, because he has a gun in his posession? I don't get it. I don't advocate a bunch of crack head users running around amock. But, it sounds like to me, that a celebrity is having his name dragged through the mud. What a bunch of crap.

Its called drug paraphanella (sp?) and people get arrested every day for it. Having a gun is a right in most states. Your argument doesnt make sense.

Irvin gets on my nerves! I hate the fact ESPN hired him for his NFL insight. I mean his only insight was how to catch a football doped up. We always wondered why the Cowboys won all those Super Bowls in the 90's..........heck if your team was as high as they were it would been more of a competition.
Then they all starting getting arrested and it led to the famous nickname "Dallas Drugstore Cowboys"

I don't believe that Irvin is a crack head. He is too successful. I don't know any crack heads, personally. But, the stories I've been told by people who do know them, say they all hit rock bottom. If Irvins story is true about his freind: Why would he let a drug addict stay at his house? You may want to do some background research on Stepnoski and Charles Haley. I seem to remember a certain Nate Newton who played for them also.

I don't recall Stepnoski and Haley being involved in drugs or arrested and charged with drug use while playing football. Stepnoski did later admit to some pot use. Irvin (and prior to Jones owning the team Hollywood Henderson) used stronger drugs.
Nate Newton I seem to remember having some problems at least with some prostitutes - hence the reason I didn't mention him..........
IF it turns out they did 3 don't equate to a whole team - at least if the use of simple math still applies..................

LOL! You guys proved one thing! I still get a kick out of razzing Cowboy fans. My old college roomate was a huge Cowboy fan and when that "Drugstore Cowboy" phrase hit the national media I had a field day with it. Alot of the same reactions that I'm seeing here. It cracked me up then and its cracking me up now!
For what its worth Rick, I cant stand Pittman or Sapp either. Glad Sapp is gone I just wish they would get rid of the other thug.
Back to the Irvin incident though! Cant believe ESPN hasn't fired him yet. How many offenses is this? Could he posibbly receive Jail time?
Remember guys! Its all fun and games until someone gets their feelings hurt. ;)

Infringement of his rights? If you are stopped for speeding and arrested due to A OUTSTANDING WARRANT because you failed to pay or show up for your violation, your property is subject to search. I am a ex-police officer so I think I know what I am talking about. I guess his past convictions on drug charges are false too? Gimme a break man. Take off your Cowboys hat and sunglasses and come back to reality. Your boy is a druggie. I read a report today that he told the police officer the pipe belonged to his brother but he tells the media it was an unnamed friend. :D;)

I'd be willing to bet a nice hand rolled habana cigar, that the charge gets dropped. The smart thing for hime to have done, however, was to not give any infromation. Now, he has this ridiculous story out in the media, that nobody is buying. If a person gets pulled over for speeding and isn't under the influence, why was he under suspicion? Was it because he was black. Too bad he doesn't have Cochran to play the race card and hit them with a lawsuit. I don't approve of those retards that get hooked on crack or whatever other hard core drugs are out there. I also don't approve of peoples rights being infringed upon, either. Here is a case of a wealthy man, who was probably driving an expensive car, whose car was searched after being pulled over for a speeding violation? I haven't gotten pulled over many times in my life for speeding, but my vehicle was never searched during those times. Is it because I am white and Irvin is black? Or, is it because he is a celebrity and the cop just wanted to mess with him?

I've gotten pulled over for speeding probably over a dozen times (ticketed nearly a dozen) in my life.
3 times while driving a company vehicle not in my name - and have never had a vehicle searched.
I can't count the number of times I've seen (on I-65 between the river and Scottsburg) a trooper (sometimes more than one) has a nice car pulled over and has ALL the (black) passengers (sometimes appears to be a family, as kids are sometimes in the mix) standing outside while they search the car.

I wasn't speaking to the Irvin incidence in this case. Incidentally, I believe the ISP settled out of court not long ago with regards racial profiling in such incidents. Considering they settled, I highly doubt outstanding warrants were an issue in these cases.
But thanks for the concerned question anyway....................

While I don't think that AA is why Stu Scott still has a job, I do think that he is a very poor anchor, much more interested in entertaining a group of people that I'm not even sure exist, than he is in reporting sports info.
Two things have jumped out at me.
1) Stu was picked to host "Dream Job," where his own boss had opportunities to critique potential Sportscenter anchors, and give advice.
Many times, Al Jaffe (the aforementioned boss) was very criticial of the contestants, for things that are regularly done by Scott.
At one point, he said something to the effect of, "this has no place on Sportscenter."
The contestants were dumbfounded, as quite frankly, I think they were trying to emulate Scott and his compatriates as much as possible.
2) The addition of Fred Hickman to the Sportscenter anchor desk.
Fred is an African-American with basically no schtick. He doesn't try to entertain. Instead, he just reports the news.
I think some folks are trying to get through to Mr. Scott.

http://saintsreport.com/forums/images/smilies/banghead.gif Deep breath wildcatfaninnc, let me have a "crack" at it...search incident to his lawful arrest would allow the search of his person and area of immediate control. Also, if his car was to be towed an inventory search of the ENTIRE vehicle is permissable prior to it being towed. Once you are determined to have an active warrant it doesnt matter who you are or what you did to be contacted by the police you are being arrested on a judge's order. Also if there is even a hint of an odor of cannabis emanating from the interior of the vehicle then the inside, every compartment and EVERY passenger are subject to a search based on that probable cause. Not saying that was the case here but it is a viable search and from what I read it was a marijuna, not crack pipe found in Irvin's car.
Also the worst part of Frank's argumenthttp://saintsreport.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_bs.gif..."shouldnt have given any information..." You are required to provide a valid driver's license and/or identify yourself while operating a motor vehicle and while checking the validity of the license a warrant search is simultaneously run as well...
and finally..."Or, is it because he is a celebrity and the cop just wanted to mess with him?" How about this NotFrank, he (Irvin) broke the freakin law, thats why he was arrested and THATS why he was searched...cops have better things to do than "mess with people."

From your avatar, it appears that you might be in law enforcement. So, I can understand your views of the search of Irvin's vehicle. I do not advocate or want to promote drug addiction as a positive lifestyle. But, I think laws should be made to protect people, not to be used to throw someone's butt in jail on a misdemeanor. Police have a very difficult job and don't get paid enough for their services. It would be a much safer environment, if there were less laws and harsher penalties for dangerous criminals. I lump impaired drivers in with killers, thieves, rapist, and child molestors, because they are one overcorrection away from killing an innocent person. I also feel that people get punished way too harshly for what I believe are petty infractions. The police may have acted within the law, in the Irvin case, but this is a case where the laws should be changed. Irvin was not under the influence and was not a danger to others.

I appreciate your words about my job but people dont understand that marijuana is just as incapacitating as alcohol when you are driving. He may not have been under the influence THIS time but what of times where he was not caught. Speeding is speeding, a warrant is a warrant, I simply took exception to your inference that the police were "messing" with him and he was the victim of circumstance rather than the cause of the problem.

I think we are mostly on the same page here. However, the reason his car was searched was because he had an outstanding warrant and prior drug arrests. When that information was provided to the officer, he/she had probable cause to search the vehicle I think. There is no denying racial profiling in some cases, I just don't think this is one of them.
