LHL columnist has not treated Coach Brooks kindly in his columns (and that is an understatement). However, KUDOS to Story for a comment after the win over Georgia. Storywrote the following:
"It's real easy to feel good in a personal level for a coach who hasspent his tenure at UK as one of the most second-guessed figures in Kentucky's sports history."
Nice statement, Mark Story.
I have not yet read today's CJ, so I don't know if Rick Bozich has been, or is going to be, man enough to now write that Coach Brooks has won the Georgia (or UT) that he had demanded to keep him from being fired. I hope I'm wrong that he is waiting to write a column only if we lose to Vandy this Saturday. Too, again, perhaps he has written a positive column about Coach Brooks and UK football today. If so, my apologies to Bozich.
Regardless, kudos to Story on this particular column. GO CATS! BEAT VANDY!
Mark Story sux.
I really mean this one.

No need to apologize to him poodoo. You nailed it. If we beat Vandy someone will need to put the poor man on suicide watch.

Bozo is truely classless. He chose to write about the 2008 Ryder Cupwith no mention of UK's big win. He can't find inhis tiny little heart to say anything nice aboutUK unless it isin a very backhanded way. Yet hefinds plenty of time to takeswipes at UK.

You are so right, fatcat, about Bozich's having "plenty of time to take swipes at UK" with no time whatsoeverto "say anything nice about UK." I just finished reading his Saturday column (as we had been on our way to Lexington for the game on Saturday). Anyway, Bozich was upset about people's not respecting the Big East enough (as he used to be upset about people's not respecting C-USA enough) and giving too much respect to the SEC. His "swipe"for the day was the following:
"I heard people talking about the Mountaineers as if they were Vanderbilt, Mississippi, or KENTUCKY, a program that no longer flinches when somebody calls it puppy chow."
The references to "toads" and "dogs" in the SEC conference permeate the column. :)The thought crossed my mind that Bozich might not want to put down UK too much, since we are theSECOND-HIGHEST rated team (according to the Sagarin ratings) that Louisville has beaten (and, no, that is not a putdown of Louisville, which is a GREAT team, but one that has obviously not played a tough schedule, to no fault of its own). :D
Back to Story. I am definitely NOT a Story fan, far from it.However, I do believe in giving credit when I feel credit is due. Since I have often criticized his negative attitude toward Mitch Barnhart and his hire, Coach Brooks, it was only fair to praisehim forshowing a positive attitude toward Brooks. Also,I was a bit surprised to read a positive column about UK football from Story, especially a positive reference to Coach Brooks. By the way, I will certainly not hold my breath, waiting toread the same from Bozich. :)
P.S. RV, I just read read the other thread and came back to say that I NOW understand what you said here. :ggrin:

I would be willing to bet (if I were a betting woman, of course :D), that Rick Bozich will not be happy if that is the case. He'll still find something to write about, of course, but .....:D
FWIW, with his faults I do think Mark Story at least enjoys UK's winning. He has written far too many negative columns about UK football for my taste (and, yes, there have been a lot of negatives to cover with many Brooks losses, but, unfortunately, those excessive losses have occurred under many different coaches and without probation's harsh effects). Yet, I do not think thatStory actuallyhas an anti-UK agenda (its programs, its conference, its fans), although he has certainly shown some agendas against some UK athletic officials in the past (specifically Barnhart and his hire, Brooks, which is why I praised him for his personal comment about Coach Brooks in this particular column). I just won't discuss thatother writer in that regard.:DGO CATS! BEAT VANDY!
