I was just looking back over the box scores for this year, and UK has been outgained in total yardage in ALL EIGHT D-1 GAMES this year! I know that we are +9 and among the nation's leaders in TO margin, this is still an eye-opening stat given that we won 4 of those games...
Is this a result of Archer's bend-but-don't-break defense?
Maybe a testament to the way this team gets itself up in clutch situations?
I saw a thread on rivals recently that said that UK had 30 something straight games of being outgained by D-1 rivals. Does anyone know if this is accurate?

You saw the result, and the UGA reciever felt it, of Archer's scheme. It really is kinda mean. Have guys back in coverage that will knock the heads off the little guys - and make them fumble. It's more about fear of that than anything else.

Not to sound like I support the beheading of players or anything of that nature, but the more people that fumble with massive hits such as the Raley WR from Georgia took should make others think when going through the middle. It seems that they may "hear footsteps" once or twice a game. Things like that could be the difference in a 1st down anda punt on any given posession. I still feel the defense is giving up too many yards, but at the end of the day, I won't complain as long as the scoreboard has more points on UK's side than the opponent's.

Same feelings here, Eric.
Too, that scoreboard is indeed all that really matters. I watched Louisville's win over West Virginia, one that has resulted in Louisville's being seriously discussed in the national championship picture. Anyway, one of the announcers at the end of the game said that Louisville survived being outgained by eighty yards, because of turnovers. If Louisville makes it to that championship game, no one is going to remember that Louisville had been outgained in its big game by those eighty yards.
Turnovers are part of the game, and, thankfully, Mike Archer's defense is at least doing a great job of forcing turnovers, which has certainly affected the outcomes of our games in a positive way. Now may we continue to force those turnovers against Vandy (and have solid ball security ourselves), as that will probably be necessary for us to defeat Vandy. Yes, I cannot forget that Vandy outgained Florida by more than sixty yards (391 yards to Florida's 330 yards). :(Continue to force those turnovers, UK "D"! :)GO CATS! BEAT VANDY!
