LEXINGTON, Ky. -- A representative from the Chick-fil-A Bowl will attend the University of Kentucky's football game against Vanderbilt Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium.
Bowl representative Frank Stiteler will be in attendance to scout both teams as potential representatives in the 2006 Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 30 in Atlanta.
The Atlantic Coast Conference and Southeastern Conference selections for the Chick-fil-A Bowl are scheduled to be announced Dec. 3.
UK (5-4, 3-3 SEC) is third in the SEC East and needs one win for bowl eligibility. The Wildcats, who have games remaining against Vandy, Louisiana-Monroe and Tennessee, last played in the Chick-fil-A Bowl in 1993, when it was known as the Peach Bowl.
Vanderbilt (4-6, 1-5 SEC) is fifth in the SEC East and needs to win at UK and at home against Tennessee in its final two games to reach bowl eligibility.

I've alway wanted to visit (C)Atlanta and this would give me a good reason to do so. I've been through there as a kid on my way to Florida with my family but we didn't stop or anything. That isn't a bad drive I don't think to make, so if I can get the funds in order, I will do me bestest to attend if that's where we end up. If UK were to end up there, any idea as a prostpective opponent?

Going by these predictions

UK would be playing the home town GA Tech Yellowjackets.
Would Atlanta still be Catlanta ?

This would be a perfect bowl, its in CATlanta, and we will have many fans there as always and we also would have the potential possibility to knock off a traditional football powerhouse such as Miami or Florida State, how would a bowl win over the likes of one of those teams look for us!

hmmmmm...... I just pictured a bowl win over Miami..... that could be interesting for those of us UK fans that live up here in Louisville...........
Wait, snap out of it. This team has a lot of work to do between now and any bowl game. I am confident that these guys can get it done, but we have to be careful because it is not a done deal by any means yet.
That is a fun thought, though..... :D

AKA, the Peach Bowl. Yes I know the "Peach Bowl" title has been dropped from bowl itself but I like to stick to tradition! haha!! :D:D:D
The Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl would be a good bowl for UK to go. BUUUUUUUUTTTTTT........ if the Cats can beat Vandy this week and beat Louisanna-Monroe, I think they could get something better..... say Outback Bowl??

Talk about a dream job...how do you apply to become a scout for a bowl game? All expense paid trips to games all over the country to get information you could get sitting at home on your computer.:dude:

Chick Fil-A Bowl...that's just wrong....In my mind It still is and should always be the PEACH BOWL...I don't care if Chick Fil-A wants to spend a bunch of money to sponsor it, it should still be the Chick-Fil-A PEACH Bowl or the Peach Bowl Brought to you By Chick-Fil-A, so long as it retains it's rightful name. It's a darn shame how corporate sponsorship has gone and ruined the time honored traditions of some of the older and more prestigious Bowl games.

I would love for the cats to end up in Atlanta. It would be so close for me to drive down and party!

The bowl committee should never let go of the Peach Bowl name. In two years instead of the Chick Fil-A Bowl it could be the White Castle Bowl. Bowl sponsors come and go. The bowl stays the same.
A trip to the Peach would be great.
If we are ahead in a close game and Braxton Kelley intercepts with 40 seconds to go all UK fans yell in unison....."FALL DOWN"!!!!

I agree too!!! Like how they changed the Citrus Bowl to the Captial One Bowl.... come one people keep the original name of the bowl in place!! I understand about having a main sponser but you can still keep the original name like The Rose Bowl brought to you by AT&T.

That would be a good bowl and on a good day.
But, I wish it had another name.

i am with you guys also..i never call those bowl games by any other name other than the original...the peach bowl will always be the peach bowl..it is an identity in college football..screw the corporate names...

Ga Tech is pretty unlikely to be in the Peach. Ga Tech doesn't really want to go and neither the Peach nor the city of Atlanta really want them either. They prefer teams from out of state so they stay at hotels, spend more money, etc. Plus it looks like Ga Tech has an excellent shot at a BCS bowl since they will play either Wake or Maryland in the ACC Championship more than likley.
I like how it says they are scouting Vandy. Scouting them for what? They are 4-6 and 1-5 in the SEC. Even if by some act of god they went 6-6 and 3-5, do you really think Vandy with a mediocure record is Peach bowl worthy? This is to scout UK plain and simple. They want the 40k+ UK fans that would decend on Atlanta.

Interesting thread on the Peach Bowl reps.
Apparently ESPN has different ideas....here's their projections
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2627844
Mark Schlabach = AutoZone Liberty
(C-USA No. 1 vs. SEC No. 6) Houston vs. Kentucky
Ivan Maisel = Gaylords Hotels Music City
(ACC No. 5 vs. SEC) Wake Forest vs.
Kentucky
Both men see GA Tech in the Orange Bowl

Wake still has FSU,Va Tch and Maryland left to play. This writer must think they will lose all three.

Okay, we were thinking the SEC tourney would be the next UK party for us. Looks like I may need to line up my parents to babysit for us to hit the BOWL game. CATlanta would be a dream. We can be down there in a few hours = wahoo!!!!

From the Peach Bowl Web Site:
Kentucky – It’s this simple: the Wildcats’ win against Georgia put them on our map. This was a game very few expected them to win, but they were up to the challenge. Tennessee will be another challenge for Kentucky on Nov. 25, but a win there would look very good to us come Dec. 3.

If Chick-Fil-A would be willing to give out free sandwiches at the game--I don't have a problem with the name change. :cool:But yeah, I didn't even realize that it was the same game as the Peach Bowl until I read it on here.

The 1976 Peach Bowl was Kentucky's first bowl appearance in about25 years. Fran Curci was HC. Of course, there were half as many bowls back then. I believe they played North Carolina (I'll have to look it up)
