After their drunken brawl in a Knoxville pub on Saturdaynight, UT Coach has stood by his principle to return discipline to the Vols by suspending starting RB Arian Foster for ONE HALF of the game against Arkansas, while the other two players will miss the entire game.
Way to take a hardline stance, Phil! Nice!

I heard one quip- that Foster was suspended for the 1/2 game because he was only 1/2 drunk:lol:

Good one, capitolkatnorm. Thanks for sharing. :ggrin:
Too, as I had read an article in yesterday's CJ, Ihad missed anyexplanation ofwhy the STARTING UT tailback had only been suspended for 1/2 ofone game. Hmmm. I guess thatmust bethe explanation (and not the word written inboldfacetype).:D
Reading this particular article is interesting. If you open the link, you will read Fulmer's version that Foster was trying tostop adisagreement between teammates and wasmerely "in the wrong place at the wrong time." That does not match the police's version, though.Actually, according to the police report, Foster had been arrested first at the bar for pushing, screaming, and cursing with alcohol on his breath, and the other two teammates were arrested for fighting ten minutesLATER outside on the parking lot. Hmmmmmmmmm....I wasn't there, but I can read that the two versions do not match.

Using Norm's logic, it's a good thing Foster wasn't 3 sheets to the wind, or he'd be suspended for Ark, Vandy, and Kentucky.

You need to read it while you are half drunk or 3 sheets in the wind.
Then it will make sense.

Phil said on the news reports down here that "there were varying degrees of participation" and that is why all three had different susupensions. I guess the fact that the tail back behind Foster is hurt and will not play in the game had nothing to do with the half game suspension.

Yeah, I caught that as well. I'm sure Fulmer wouldn't twist the facts to suit his needs. ;)

If I remember correctly it was the reverse. The two were arrested first, then Foster was. One of my friends here at work teaches there part time and has or had Foster in a class. He texted her and they talked about it. He told her he was trying to break up the fight. I'm not buying it. I didn't ask if she did.

In more ways than one...even the UT fans in my office are suspect of Fulmer's reasoning behind the suspensions. They noted that the player who plays the least got the longest suspension, the one who plays the most got the shortest suspension, and the one in the middle--you guessed it.
Some UT fans are ready for Fulmer to leave, believe it or not. They're getting tired of the off-the-field shenanigans and The Great Pumpkin not doing much about it.

I thought that I might have been mistaken, so I went back and opened the link again. It distinctly says that police went outside the bar TEN MINUTES AFTER Fosterhad beenarrested and found the other two guys fighting on the parking lot, FWIW. Go figure. :)
