Vandy and UK have had 3 common opponents. Here is how they fared against each of the 3, yardage-wise, offensively and defensively:

Vandy 400 yards, Ole Miss 179 yards UK 380, Ole Miss 395
Vandy O +20:thumbdown Vandy D +216:thumbdown (Vandy O 20 yards better than UK's; Vandy D 216 yards better than UK's)

Vandy 253, USC 327 UK 351, USC 383
UK O +98:thumbup Vandy D +56:thumbdown

Vandy 291, GA 373 UK 351, GA 389
UK O +60:thumbup Vandy D +16:thumbdown

Interesting to note that UK's D has improved with each game, in this analysis, anyway. Hope the trend holds.

One item I would like to see is starting field position. I may be off but it seems we continouly start with excellent field position either from our kicking game or the turnovers giving us a shorter field to work with.

Any idea what Vandy's difference in turnovers is? That seems to be a strong point for our defense. They seem to be able to allow alot of yards, yet force a turnover, several of which have been inside the 10.

Looks like Kentucky's D has improved as well as the O. Both of which sounds better than things looked a few weeks ago...

This might be a reason that UK has given up so many yards too - other teams start with poor field position.

VirginiaBlue, thanks for sharing. Both of us also played Florida. I do know that Vandy outgained Florida by sixty-one yards, 391 yards for Vandy's offense, while holding Florida to only 330 yards. I don't have our stats for our game against Florida, though, although I know that they do not match up favorably with Vandy's stats against Florida. Add :thumbdown:thumbdown, I guess.

Regardless, the key to this game, same as the Georgia game, is TURNOVERS. We won that battle against Georgia 4-3. Here's hoping that we win the battle against Vandy by an even wider margin. If so, I suspect the scoreboard, the stat that matters the most, of course, will make us Cat fans smile. :)GO CATS! BEAT VANDY!
