LEXINGTON, Ky. -- There was a grimace on Keenan Burton's face as he said it.
The University of Kentucky wide receiver cringed a little. He wrinkled his nose a bit, as if he'd just swallowed some harsh medicine.
But he got it out.
"I'm pulling for (the University of) Louisville," Burton said. "I'm going to be honest with you -- that really hurt for me to say."
Yes, Burton, UK's star wideout from Manual High School, is pulling for the Cardinals to reach the BCS title game. It's part home-school loyalty, but mostly devotion to his buddy Michael Bush, the Cards' injured running back.
"I'm really passionate about my friendship with Mike," Burton said. "I know that if they're doing well, that makes him happy, and if he's happy, I'm happy."
Lately, though, Burton has his own reasons to be content.

"It means a lot to me to finally be in big games," Burton said. "This is what I came here for, to try to build this and win some games for these coaches and my school. It's exciting to be playing in games that mean something."
"With me and Wes, if we have a big game in a loss, it doesn't matter," Burton said. "It's just meaningless. We're about wins."
I came here as a freshman to help recruit and help build a program," Woodyard said. "It feels good to actually start here and help build something. I'm real glad I'm here right now."
"Hopefully down the road, we can say we were a part of something," Burton said. "That's all I want. I'd give up anything individually just to see the University of Kentucky have football success."
Folks, as you read this article, and especially these quotes from Keenan Burton and Wesley Woodyard, I hope you feel the pride this staff and these players are trying to bring back to UK football. I also hope it will motivate you, if you have not already decided to do so, to come out Saturday to fill the stadium for this latest BIG game (and it is BIG) and make so much noise that Vandy's qb will not be able to hear himself think! These guys deserve it, IMO. Let's make it happen Saturday! Go Cats!
And, just it case you missed it the first time, hear again the words of Keenan Burton:
"I'd give up anything individually just to see the University of Kentucky have football success."
Let's come out as fans and give it up against Vandy!!!!

GREAT post, trublue4life. :)Too, I had brought this very CJ article to the computer with me, planning to share those very quotes from Keenan Burton and Wesley Woodyard. Thanks for saving me some time. :)
One additional quote I will share, though, is Joker's comment about getting those guys to come to UK. Joker said, "We sold those guys on a dream. We didn't have anything concrete to show them."Two of the team's leaders, Keenan and Wesley, along with many of their teammates, were indeed sold on the UK coaches' "dream," and I am so thankful that they took that chance and came to UK.
Too, that Keenan came here "to build this and try to win some games for these coaches and my school" says it all. Keenan, Wesley, and so many othersare a huge part of why we are having "days like these," specifically our having beaten Georgia, considered one of the SEC powers, AND our being on track to make it to a bowl game. As I have said previously, we have some fine young men on this UK football team, and that makes pulling for them to make their dream become realitythat much more enjoyable.
I think I'll share one more quote. Keenan's final words in the article are as follows: "Hopefully down the road we can say that we were a part of something. I'd give up anything individually just to see the University of Kentucky have football success."
Reading that quote from Keenan really touches me. Bless his heart. Too, I thinktrublue4life is so right. These guys DESERVE our support and attendance and loud participation at Saturday's game in Commonwealth. Let's now DO OUR PART in bringing back PRIDE to the UK football program. :)GO CATS! BEAT VANDY!
