Prediction: Georgia wins by double digits. Hilltoppers aren't tough enough to play against a Dennis Felton team.

UGA should win this going away.

Georgia's gonna be pretty tough. They return all five starters and a couple of key players off the bench. They're still not that deep, and for some reason Felton has yet to recruit a solid big man (Albert Jackson, the freshman from Kentucky, is big...but raw), but they've got a few playmakers on the perimeter and are going to win quite a few games.

Western returns Courtney Lee, who seems like he's been at WKU since the mid-80s. AJ Slaughter, the freshman from Shelby County, is also on their roster. He was the most impressive high school player I saw last year outside of OJ Mayo, and it wouldn't surprise me if he's a star for the Toppers in time.

He got the program to where it could compete with most D-I schools and turned the reigns over to Darrin Horn and he's kept the program at a high level.

Georgia is going to be a tough team this year. Give some credit to the Toppers. The Georgia/Western series has been a good one with close games and the visiting team winning each year, if I am not mistaken.

Oh good Dr, is it so farstretching that the 9th overall winningest program in the ncaa could possibly be in the same league with the God Almighty sec? Had not the Kil-a-program yrs we`d be in the top 5...

I forgive you for you know not what you know...

Thought both teams looked pretty good for early season play last night, but don't think GA exemplifies the SEC in basketball this year(or recently).

Western did a lot with what personel they had.

Great win for the Toppers. They're better than I thought. When they got outrebounded bad against Kentucky State, I thought they were in trouble this year.

If they can find a way to win two or three more against the other big boys on their schedule, they will have a shot at an at-large NCAA bid - provided they take care of business in the Sun Belt.

As for Georgia, I'm disappointed. I thought they would be much better than that. I'm surprised that WKU's frontcourt was so much better than UGA's.

Easy big fella. Just a good natured barb at Felton. I don't consider him a traitor, but I'm pretty certain the WKU athletics people enjoyed beating him. He's also one of our competitors now at GA, so I like seeing him get beat.

I happen to really like Felton. I think he may be as intense of a coach as you will ever find in basketball, but I think he is fairly sane. I have talked to Coach Felton a couple times, and he seems very determined and spiritual. His wife and children are wonderful as well.

I do believe, however, that hewill be a thorn in our side for years to come.

I think Felton's teams are always a little dirty, but I've gone on record on this board saying that I like dirty play, so I guess I can't complain too much.

He may have the hardest job in college basketball. Winning at a place like Georgia, where they could really care less about hoops, is nearly impossible. (Unless, like Mr. Harrick, you cheat.)

And congrats to the Toppers! That score really surprises me, but I don't guess it should: Western is always pretty tough.

this just has to be a bitter pill for you to have to swallow huh bgukgrad? As for beating the so called big boys; 2 and 1 against Ga; and do you know who won 2 of the last 3 meeting`s with UK? And who also owns a winning record against L-ville? Oh wait, you said big boys...

By "big boys" I mean teams that don't play in a lousy conference and that have actually been to a Final Four...without cheating.

I was at WKU over the weekend and the President Ransdell said that all sports are going to Division 1...it will be a 2 year transition to do so but won't that mean they will no longer be in the Sun Belt Conference

It looks like they will be playing with the Big boys

Nope. Just means they will play football in the Sun Belt Conference along with "big boys" Arkansas State, La-Monroe, Troy, North Texas, etc.

We`ve heard so many rumors we don`t know where we`ll wind up. For the past few yrs it`s been the MAC. Lately it`s been the CUSA, which btw, the ville, when they were there, always stopped those talks cold whenever WKU was memtioned as a joining member. That would be fine but I fear Memphis and UAB will leave and it will be the sunbelt conference all over again. I personally like the MAC cause I have a lot of family in and around Detroit that I can "ROAD TRIP"...

Footballwas the only d2 program at Western and even they played atleast one"BIG BOY" each yr.The other sports have uniforms and everything...

Western will stay in the Belt, atleast untill 09...

Nope. Trueblue,

I used to feel like you about UK and WKU. I grew up in eastern Kentucky, which means I've been a UK fan all my life - because everybody in that end of the state loves the Cats.

Anyhow, when I graduated high school, I went to UK. After I graduated, I worked a couple different jobs before ending up in Bowling Green. When I got here, I thought it was pretty cool that WKU was here. I remembered pulling for them during their Sweet 16 run in the early 90s. So, I figured I'd start rooting for my new hometown team along with UK.

After a while though, I came to realize that most WKU fans *hate* UK and think very poorly of us UK fans. I've heard some really nasty comments come out of their mouths and read much, much worse on their message board. Trust me when I say they are much worse than Louisville fans.

To this day, I don't fully understand why they are so nasty when it comes to UK. It's not like we're rivals. But anyway, that's why I don't much like WKU anymore. Their loudmouth, arrogant fans. (I know, what do they have to be arrogant about? I don't get it, but they are.)

If your daughter is anything like you, she'll probably get hasseled quite a bit for liking UK so much. It stinks, but it's just a reality here.
