Having Stevenson's energy in there from the opening tip will be great.

Good!

Even as a freshman, Stevenson brings so much more to the table than Sheray it ain't even funny.

HOWEVER.

Sheray's got to play a big role for this team, regardless of whether he comes in off the bench or he starts. We need all the help we can get in the frontcourt.

Do you all think this will be the same starting group when Sheray gets back on Friday? Or is this just until. I hope Sheray is better than Stevenson, but he's going to have to look pretty dang good to be better than that freshman. Gosh i love me some Perry Stevenson!!!!!!

I think PS will make Morris a better player. Morris is not and will not be a defensive anchor for the middle. I have accepted that. PS seems to have that ability. Plus, he showed some ability to have some good moves and has a good nose for the ball. He will struggle some early, but I bet he will be awesome come March. Our boys should be primed and peaking at that time. I look for some stumbles throughout the year, but a deep run in March. I don't know if they will make the Final 4, but could make it. However, if all the Juniors stay, this team could be something special next year. They will be as Athletic as anyone in the country.

From what we have seen of Stevenson I think he will do a good job in there. I don't see him forcing many bad shots and he will be a real worry to the other team with his shot blocking and quickness.

Here is an article from the LHL that confirms that Stevenson will probably start.

I like this move and hope it sticks even with Sheray back.

Stevenson isnt strong enough to match up with guys like Daves, Hansborough, Noah, Horford and so on. Sheray will have to be at 150% this year for us to have a viable PF.

Stevenson wouldn't guard Big Baby or Hansbrough with Morris available. He's quick enough to check Noah (but he'll struggle- heck, everyone will struggle with Noah). Horford would probably fall to Morris.

Stevenson brings an athletic energy that NO ONE else on our frontline brings (6'6+). He can block shots and has a nice touch around the basket. These aren't words used to describe Sheray Thomas' game. Let him earn his lumps and let Sheray be the backup.

I hoe with Stevenson in the lineup Morris will realize he hasa shot blocker behind. If he does it should eliminate some of his stupid fouls.Well in theory anyway.

I look for the same starting lineup we had for the two exhibition games. It's not our best line up IMO but it is whatI expect to see.

Actually, I think his quickness and agility will make up for his size for the most part.

This post wasnt my opinion. It was Tubby;s probables. He said we need to keep Woo on the bench to backup Morris since Carter is out.

Maybe. But he's our most athletic player on the front line and it's not even close. He brings a dimension to the team that we've not had, really, since Jamal Magloire.

Athleticism plus length trumps brute strength in the game of basketball.

Not only am I impressed with Stevenson's shot blocking ability, he can also pass the ball well, if he gets the ball low in the post and gets double teamed he can dish the ball to Morris for that short jumper that he likes, I say we see that alot this year.

..."For tomorrow’s game the line-up we’re going to start with Perry Stevenson, Randolph (Morris), Joe (Crawford), Bobby (Perry) and Ramel (Bradley). We’ll probably bring Lukasz Obrzut off of the bench...."

This is a quote from Tubby's press conference. Personally, I like this line-up

I am very excited to see how this lineup performs tomarrow night. With PS in i think it birngs a newpresence to the team that we havent had in a while - a very athetic big guy. In order for the cats to go far this year they need the freshmen to step up big and be asignificant contribution on both sides of the ball. Perry brings this with shot blocking and atleticism. Im predicting a huge game for both PS and Joe Crawford in a comfortable win for UK tostart the season.

Well how about that!

If you'd've* asked me three weeks ago which freshman would be the first to start a regular season game, I'd've* said Derrick Jasper. And I'd've* been wrong.

(* Note: The triple double-contraction in the previous paragraph is utilized to hopefully inspire triple-doubles of other varieties...say, I don't know, points, rebounds, and blocks?)

The thing that this gives us is an increased chance to get all of our guys involved early. Perry certainly brings an energy that we will certainly need from the getgo. I can't wait!

True, but he shouldn't have to.

Stevenson will really only be at a marked disadvantage if the man he guards is around 20 lbs or more than Stevenson (or just exceptional at using his size). There aren't very many teams who have 2+ players who are that big, and also skilled.

I like the starters but i think JMeeks and DJas deserve a lot of playing time. Not more than Bradley and Joe Joe but they deserve some minutes because of their performances earlier. The starters will be good for tonight but is Jared Carter really as improved as everyone says? It didnt appear to be so because I heard he could be a candidate for most improved player in the country. In the two games already he looked like the same Carter as last year. If PS starts in the 4 and Randy is in the 5 would Carter start and move Randy to 4 when hes healthy? I hope not because PS is going to be special on the glass and as a defensive presence. Although Jared is big we need PS in there so we can push the ball up the court.
