I am a real fan and have been supporting Tubby and still do until it spills over to the court but this is just piling up to the point where its about to spill onto the court. WHy am I not a REAL Uk fan? BEcause I posted about another miss that didnt have to be a miss?

They were supposed to visit this weekend but apparently had a family illness. I admit if they announce tomorrow it's probably memphis.

The fact that they didn't visit is not entirely the staff's fault. They were invited to Madness but didn't show.

You may be right, but it IS their choice. No matter how well they are recruited by ANY staff...the players have the ultimate decision and may actually choose to play elsewhere.
Not at you Chunks, but too many act like everyone they think is great and we miss would have been the next great thing for UK...sometimes they are good in college for their respective schools, but not all the time as some act. Stone, Carruth, Allison...lots of highly ranked HS players never develop further...just is what it is.
Again, not at you, but the response led me here.
Thanks, 97

All the coaching staff can do is invite these kids and hope they come......how can it be Tubby's fault if they chose not to come.........or if they chose another school.......these are 18 year olds.........they will do what is best for them

They were going to visit a long time ago and we kept putting things off and then they decide not to come. Its a long line of things liek this we always here about. An inept preformance by the staff. Its procrastination. Its like Moses. He said he was told if he gets his scores we would probably wait till after Maui to setup a visit. WHY?? WHy not have him come this weekend? Its just plain procrastination. We have a home game Friday night so why not have him come???? We put off the Morris twins, we quit contacting Gant, we quit contacting LavoyAllen, we quit contacting Barnes. Its easy to say they chose somewhere else thats fine. IF that happens with Patterson and Lucas I am fine with that because we tried but to completely drop all these kids, many that wanted to come here is rediculous and is why we are constantly scrambling for recruits.

If our best recruiting effort isn't good enough, we've got problems.

The team leaves Saturday for Maui. Unless Moses wants to visit Tubby at the airport, it's gonna have to wait.
You've got to separate what's a player's decision and what's a failure by the staff. The offer was there for the Morris twins to come to Big Blue Madness. They did not. The offer has been there for Moses to make a visit. He's been unable to get his test scores. As other posters have said: if the kids don't want to make a visit, then what can you do?
And I'm not sure how you can say these kids "wanted to come here." You know that for sure? You talked to these kids?
We're still on the two kids who we've been after for months. As far as I can see, not much has changed. I think a lot of folks are just assuming Patterson is going to Florida. Trust me: I've read all you've read, Chunks, and I've seen nothing to suggest that Patrick Patterson knows what the hell he's going to do.
Let's chill.

Come on WIll. If you have read as much as I ahve read then you would have heard multiple kids being quotes that we quit contacting them. SOme even said, thats to bad because i really liked them. I read that on multipl PF 07 recruits alone. I understand the MOses thing, Im not upset about that I just mentioned it. The Morris Twins didnt back out of Midnight Madness we asked them to put it off so that we could concentrate on the big 3. That is not a good message to send. We should have not had them on the list in the first place. That would have been much better than telling them we were going to put it off. Heck, they may still come here but we cant sit here and act as if these bumbles should be happening. Multiple people (yes its just interenet chatter, but from good people) have stated Patterson is really waiting to see what happens with Billy D. Granted, he may still come as well. JOe C was similar with Michigan. TO me, A TOn has changed because we have no backups at this time. Yes, all will be good if we get Patterson but we should always have backups. We should have learned last year by doing the same thing with BW.

At least get your facts straight. According to Moses he would have had to come during the week if he came prior to Maui, but Hobbs wanted him to come in for a weekend visit, which makes sense. I'm guessing the team is leaving for Maui on Saturday so this weekend would make NO sense. Maybe Marshall has practice this weekend or maybe he's going to visit his grandma or whatever, butit didn't seem to bother Marshall to wait for a weekend visit at all so why do you want to gripe about it. And how is it procrastination when the Morris twins were invited to BBM but did not/could not come? We've also had other recruits in prior to BBM and after. Criticize the staff for not closing the deal or signing the players you think should be here as much as you want but to suggest they have not worked hard and in a strategic way this recruiting season is just wrong. And, guess what? It ain't over til it's over!

Personally I think calling them a whiff is ridiculous. They both wanted to play for the same college and it seemed as though to me from recent weeks that UK had cooled on them significantly. Maybe it was mutual maybe it was mostly them who knows. But I never remember anyone saying these kids were a done deal to UK and that is the only thing in my mind you can call a whiff (B.Wright). So if you want to criticize then that is your right but I think you are off base on this one.

i f you didn't attend every Midnight Madness and every home and away game the last 4 years Chunks and yell like crazy then you have "whiffed" on the recruit also.

Fellas and Gals, sorry for the negatism earlier, its just getting frustrating. I know many are not whiffs and dont feel like the sky is falling but we need some bigs to compete for a NC. Accept my apology. GOCats

No need to apologize. It certainly is frustrating. I don't blame anyone for thinking the sky is falling--hell, I kind of feel like it is too, and anyone who has been around long enough to read my posts here knows that that is very unusual for me.
