Carter's injury may have come at a perfect time. It MAY be an injury that catapults Stevenson into the lineup, and we look back at as a blessing in four years. I don't know... just putting it out there. I like Perry A LOT. I think he has a chance to be a major contributor this year. I think there is a solid chance that he develops a real threat early, and Tubby continues to go with him in the starting lineup.

For those worried about his offense, I would counter that Woo, Sheray or Carterare not going to fill the basket up. In other words, I do not think there will be a let down in scoring, but I do feel that he could be an incredible defender; i believe he has already shown us a glimpse of that.

Stevenson would have started tonight regardless of Carter's injury, I think; he's playing the 4, while Carter plays the pivot.

But I see your point. Perry's going to have to play a lot now that we have only three scholarship frontcourt players available (did I say that?). I think we'll probably see D. Jasper in a Dane Bradshaw role, as a sort of point forward. But Perry will need to play well for us to win this game like we should.

And it'll be a good test for him: Miami has some big, thick players who are going to try to body up on him. I'm interested to see how he does.

There is a CHANCE he would have played, but journalists from Nashville, Lexington, and Louisville seem to think that Tubby wants to go with the "Twin Tower" lineup. With Carter out, there is a major emphasis on preserving Woo by means of a backup position, thus creating an extra spot. Tubby seemed pretty bummed when the news broke, and no offense to Carter, but I think it had more to do with the indirect effect to his lineup plans.

I agree. I think this will help PS down the line, and the team. The question is this, how will Sheray do when he comes back? Will he be able to provide any help at the 4?
Morris needs to stay out of foul trouble. I think PS will help him do that since he will be the defensive stopper in the paint.

I feel as though my pre-game thought came to fruition.

I feel as though Perry will contribute drastically more on the defensive end than Thomas, Woo or Carter. One school of though, however, is that he will not be able to contribute enough offensively. My only issue with that conversation is that we do not get THAT much out of those three on the offensive end anyhow.

I think that we will all look back at this night in four years as the night that PS was a starter by default, and never looks back.

I think, in time, Perry Stevenson will turn into a very adept offensive player. He has to...he has all of the tools. He can jump, he can run, he can catch (did you see him haul in that pass from Perry on that fast break? VERY impressive. He didn't finish, but he'll learn that skill quickly) I love the guy's hands.

I agree. However, they have to find a way to get him more than 3 shots. The kid could live on the foul line, which is not a bad thing. We need his defense for sure, but he will have to provide more offense if he is going to play 30+ minutes.

Great upside for him though. He will have bad nights for sure, but being able to block shots like he does gives us a dimension we need.

I would agree with you. I feel that this year, however, will be a struggle offensively for PS. He will be playing against players close to his height, but that will be twice his width. In other words, I do not see him backing ANYBODY down this year. Possibly he will surprise me in the future, and be able to move quickly around the basket. Only time will tell.
