It is gameday in the Bluegrass!
I don't know about the rest of 'The Nation' but I am pretty excited about this team for some reason. I think whatever character issues and team problems we had last year are all but gone.
Here is just a few of my thoughts about the team:
-I liked Joe's enthusiasm in the preseason and some of his comments to the media. It seems like he is fully committed to the team game and, more importantly, winning this year, winning right now.
-How can you NOT like Ramel Bradley? Enough said. He is a team player and adds an actual shot presence to the Point Guard position. Anyone read the Herald-Leader article about what Bobby Perry learned about how Florida played UK during his trip to South America? Guarding Rajon with a PF because he had no outside shot? Good luck with that this year.
-Wu seems to be much improved and is enthusiastic as always. With Jared Carter down for 3 to 4 weeks, the big man will need to step up.
-Two words: Perry Stevenson. Its nice to finally have that limber athletic PF a la Tyrus Thomas or Joakim Noah. I am not saying he is as good as them now or will ever be, but bringing that athleticism to the forward position adds excitement. Just look at the momentum turns in Rupp during the preseaons thanks to Stevenson's monster blocks.
-Lastly, I have heard good things from the players in the media about Tubby's demeanor this year. He seems to have a new lease on coaching, as if the weight of something has been lifted off his shoulders from last year. I look for good things to come.
Just a few of my thoughts, you may or may not agree, but please discuss before the game!
Thanks,
Matt
