*POSTIVE POST ALERT*

As I reflect on the season to this point, here is what I know to be true:

The University of Kentucky football team has seven wins and has secured their bowl eligibility.
The Wildcats are assured of no worse than a 3rd place finish in the SEC East division.
UK is 6-1 in Commonwealth Stadium this season.
Andre Woodson has matured into the leader we knew he could be and hoped he would be
The Wildcat offense is playing lights out and is now capable of matching any team in the SEC point for point.
UK hasa rock-solid stable of running backs in Rafael Little, Tony Dixon, and Alphonso Smith.
UK got the signature victory it's been seeking with the win over Georgia (which the Dawgs proved was no flute by manhandling a solild Auburn team)
We have an excellent receiving corps that features Keenan Burton, Dicky Lyons Jr., and Jacob Tamme, to name a few.
The football 'Cats have discarded the "we're behind so let's just give up" attitude of past seasonsand have found ways to win, regardless of the circumstances.
UK has won every game it was supposed to win and at least one that they weren't expected to win.
HC Rich Brooks has shown that he knows what he's doing and is re-building the program the right way, and is laying a solid foundation for his successor, whomever that happens to be and whenever it may come.
After seven years of watching other teams go to a bowl, UK is probably going to have more than one option as to the bowl they're going to play in.
Finally, with one more game left, we have an excellent chance at beating UT for the first time in over 20 years and going 8-4, which would give us a second place finish in the East division.
As positive as I try to be, frankly, in my wildest dreams, I never really expected to see HALF of what I just posted come true (note my first three points), but it did. I'm confident that any and all areas of concern (and we all know what those are) are going to be addressed and dealt with in due course.

In short, for me, There is much, much more reason to be positive and upbeat this morning than to be bummed out.

I'm looking foward to watching UK whup them Vols next week and lock up win number 8.

GO CATS! Beat Tennessee!! :wildcatface:wildcatface:wildcatface:wildcatface:t humbup:thumbup

In August if you would have told anyone cheering for BigBluethat we would be 7-4 going into the UT game,we beat UGA, have a "shot" in Knoxville, AND we are going Bowling..... They would have been turning CARTWHEELS. It is easy to be negative... Me too... I was exasperated with the defense yesterday and did more than my share of bashing coach Archer.

However... we are playing loads (13-15) true/redshirt Frosh & some trus Soph's. I know it is hard to keep that in perspective but we really need to to focus on the positives. Come Bowl day I will be wherever the Cats are playing.

Go Big Blue!

Nice post Rick. Wish we could all go down to Tennessee and pull the cats through.

Rick, you're absolutely right! We have a lot to be upbeat about, and I'll be the first one to say I'm surprised but very happywith 7 wins. One of the positive things about a bowl game is the young players have a lot of extra practice to work on fundamentals, which will pay huge dividends next year. GOOD POST.

I'll be honest. I didn't know if Woodson could be the leader we needed, but I was sure hoping it. I'm glad he decided to do what was necessary tobecome that leader. Kudos to the young man. :thumbup:thumbup

Well-said, ridgecat78.

Now is indeed NOT the time to be focusing on the negatives. As you say, it is easy to focus on the negatives (and watching yesterday's defense was often "exasperating," no doubt). However, focusing on that negative and ignoring all the positives Big Blue 75 just listed is ridiculous, in my opinion. Too, as you say, as disappointed as we are in yesterday's defensive performance, remembering how many very young players we are using on defense should at least temper our negativity a bit. What is most important is that the Cats are WINNING, something we have seen FAR TOO RARELY.

Bowl day, I, too, plan to be there (God-willing). I'm happy and determined to focus on the POSITIVES, which far outnumber the negatives. I am HAPPY, and, yes, I still feel like turning cartwheels when I read that list of positives and know we are GOING BOWLING!!! :DGO CATS!

BB 75 thank you for the great positive post! I have been thinking about this also and I want to add that I love watching these guys play. Yes I know the defense has some major problems but I believe that the coaching staff and players are working hard to correct them.

I love seeing how all the players respond to each other when positive plays are made. They chest bump and hug and seem to be a really close knit bunch. I suppose the rough road they have travelled has brought them to this point.

Why can't we be happy for these guys and support them? We as fans, have travelled a rough road also and now we can reap the rewards of a bowl game with our beloved Cats.

I wouldn't trade our players for any in the country, and the rough times only make these good times even sweeter!

GO BIG BLUE!!!

BEAT THE VOLS!!!

Beautifully said, bleedblue79.

Also, I, too, would not trade our players for any in the country. Further, as you say, the rough times "only make these good times sweeter." It's a shame, though, that many UK fans did not stick with the UK football programthrough those rough timesand are not ableto enjoy these sweet times that are indeed sweeter because of all the heartbreaks endured inpast years. The drops in attendance show that is the case, unfortunately.

Regardless, so many of us are SO HAPPY for these guys, who, as you say, are united as a family and have been working so hard to get better and be successful. Because of their efforts, WE FANS are rewarded with a bowl game to watch our "beloved Cats." Thanksgiving is Thursday Day, and I feel blessed. :)GO CATS!
