We gotta beat Tennessee to go to the Outback, and look real good doing it.
If they bypassed an 8-win team to select us in '98, they wouldn't hesitate again for a sexier pick than the Cats.
That said, some revenge would be sweet.

it's looking like we'd have to beat the Orange Stain and have 2 SEC teams in the BCS to get to Tampa

thanks. I used to call them the Orange Swine but changed a few years ago when I realized I was demeaning the world's pigs.

Why not just call them what they are, Orange Voles. That way, you only offend rodents - which are an offense, and nobody would blame you for shooting one with a 0.22 even.

I can't see any scenario that the Outback bypasses Auburn or LSU over the Cats even if the beat the Vols. I'm thinking Peachy myself.

If I read the SEC's selection procedures correctly, should we beat UT and the SEC get two teams into the BCS series then we would be the logical choice for Outback. I believe it goes like this:
Say Florida and Arkansas make it into BCS bowls.
The Capital One Bowl selects next. They are required to take the remaining team with the best overall record, or a team within one win of the team with the best overall record, regardless of Division. Their selection would be Auburn or LSU.
The Outback and Cotton then have simultaneous selections, if you will. Outback has first preference over remaining teams in the East Division; Cotton has first preference over remaining teams in the West Division. These bowls can choose a team from the opposite Division (i.e. the Outback can take a West team and the Cotton can take an East team), but only after the bowl with first preference has made its selection. The Cotton, with first preference in the West, would logically take either LSU or Auburn (whichever doesn't go to Capital One). The Outback would then choose between Georgia and Kentucky, the next best teams in the East, both of which are more attractive than the next best team in the West (Alabama at 6-6). I believe Outback would take us over Georgia because we would have an equal or better overall record (depending on whether or not Georgia beats Georgia Tech), we beat them head-to-head, and Chris Sullivan is a UK grad.
After the Outback and Cotton make their selection, Peach is next in line. This is where I see Georgia going in this scenario.

As jwade explained, if 2 SEC teams make the BCS the Outback wouldn't be bypassing either Auburn or LSU. One of them would go to the Capital One Bowl and the other would go to the Cotton, who has can pick a West Div team before the Outback gets them.
