Durrell White knows what it’s like to be in the middle of the rivalry between Kentucky and Tennessee.

White, a senior defensive end from Middlesboro, has always taken a special interest in the annual football meeting between the two neighboring states. Middlesboro is located close to Knoxville near the border of Kentucky and Tennessee.

“I’m in the border war, right in the middle of it,” he said. “A lot of people don’t understand how significant this rivalry is. To me, this is a tremendous game. We have to get this game.”

For the past three years, White has taken some heat from his friends, who are diehard Tennessee followers.

“They’re always giving me a hard time,” he said.

UT is on the schedule every year. But, UK has to win a few for anyone to call it a rivalry. Since the Curci days, it has not been a rivalry.

I don't know what you call it but I hate them more than any other program. They are the lowest of the low, the dirtiest of the dirty, and the cheatin'est of the cheatin'.

If that doesn't sound like rivalry talk what is it?

The one part about not blowing out ULM is I didn't get to start the Go to Hell Tennessee chant I wanted...

This is the team I want most to beat. To Tennessee fans it is not a rival because they have no fear we will ever beat them. I had a 25 year old UT grad tell me Kentucky would not win another game. He can't remember losing to UK. He was only a gleam in his daddy's eye when we last went down there and kicked their butts

I am like johnkyblue, it is a rival to me but I also see boomdaddy's point. A true rival fears you and knows going into the game even a superior team may get beat. UT does not feel that but a win Saturday will bring it all back in a hurry. (the rival part that is)

I would love to see it happen. Mike Archer, please help us out!
