:shrug:he has brought it on himself by refusing to get better Asst.Coaches that can teach and recruit. Also waited way to long and then had to be forced to get a better SC coach.I just don't inderstand his thinking.

Why feel sorry for him? As you said, he brought this on. He has to right it. He gets rewarded handsomely for his efforts. I doubt he wants our sympathy anyway.

As for the S&C coach...I don't think anyone here knows the whole story of how all that came about anyway. Just thankful we were able to grab someone like Holsopple. He will help and likely has already.

There should have been other hiring going on the past few years as well, IMO. But that is another story.

Yeah, and the athletic director should have started at the top. But, then again, I think the president of the university should have stepped in and got rid of the whole bunch, including the A. D., but that's just my opinion. I am sick of Tubby ball, and I won't try to hide it. It's nothing new; I have felt this way a long, long time.

Am I glad we won the national championship the first year Tubby was coach. Of course I am, but in the long run that is turning out to be Tubby's shield of protection. If that team had been upset early in the tournament or even lost in the finals, does anyone really believe Tubby would have the credentials to withstand the ten loss seasons and poor recruiting years. It was reasonable to believe that based on his success that year Tubby could have built on it. Instead we are no longer one of the premier programs in the country. Sure, we are better than many and therefore win twenty some odd games whose heart is really not in top level basketball, but so what. Getting into a tournament with 66 teams and no realistic hope of being a contender, except by surprise which would be good but unlikely, is a long way downhill for our program. We are on a roller coaster, hanging on and hitting bottom from time to time. In other words getting beaten badly which is becoming more common place. We are a cassette player in an ipod world. We lack charisma as a program. Quite frankly, it is the fan base that is carrying the program, not the coaching staff. Other than the name "Kentucky" on the jersey, the people in charge of the program are invisible. Tubby is paid and paid well to coach basketball. He has not failed to cure cancer. I feel sorry for the fans, not Tubby, because the fans are what the program is for in any event. Tubby has enough money to do well if he never sets foot in an arena again.

You are so very right. If we feel sorry for anybody, it is ourselves, the fans. We expect and deserve better than what our storied basketball program has become. How much further do we have to fall before this Tubby sham is finally over.

Everybody knows he won the national championship with somebody else's players and somebody else's style of play. It has not existed at in the basketball program since. I will be very happy when Mr. Smith no longer resides in the coach's office at U.K.

Again I agree, Bob.

Enough with the "we're no longer a premier team" stuff. Guys, if prestige faded as fast as y'all are suggesting, then all of the following teams would no longer be "premier" basketball teams:

Duke
Syracuse
Texas
The entire Big 10
The entire Pac-10
etc., ad nauseum...
