LAHAINA, Hawaii - In the spirit of the islands, the University of Kentucky rode a wave called Randolph Morris as long as it could.
The problem was, the 6-11 center eventually crashed from the multiple big men Memphis head coach John Calipari marched in to guard him and his teammates were one step ahead of him on their way to the massage table.
A day after Kentucky pushed No. 5 UCLA to the limit, No. 12 Memphis exposed UK's limitations during an 80-63 drubbing Wednesday afternoon in the third-place game of the EA Sports Maui Invitational that was close for about 20 minutes.
The No. 20 Wildcats were hounded relentlessly by bouncy and physical Tiger players who looked quicker and stronger as they dunked the Wildcats back to the mainland.
"It looked like we kind of hit the wall there in the second half against Memphis; their speed and quickness (got to us)," UK head coach Tubby Smith said.
It was the Wildcats' second consecutive loss in the three-day tournament after winning their opening game against DePaul. They are 3-2 overall.
