(*Disclaimer*: I have not read every single post on every single thread on this forum since basketball season started. Frankly, I've only read a handful of them. I say that to let everyone know that my comments hereare not directedat anyone or are they made in rebuttal to someone's particular comment, and I don't want anyone to get their underwear in a knot by thinking I'm calling them out. Everyone has their own opinion and this is mine.)
I look forward with anticipation to every college basketball season because it means I get to watch the 'Cats take the floor and march toward what I hope will be another national championship. I fully expect the 'Cats to dominate each team they play and I go into each game knowing that the odds of them winning are far greater than they are that the 'Cats will lose. Now, do I realistically believe that they're going to WIN every game? No. Will there be games when they don't play as well as they should? Yes. Are they going to lose some games along the way? Yes Will they lose some games they should have won? Yes. By the same token, will they win some they should have lost? Yes.
I'm no more happy that the Wildcats are coming out of the Maui tournament 1-2 than anyone else is, but that's the hand they've been dealt. Along with that, I refuse to fall into the mindset that says (a) The season is over, (b) the Wildcats are going to lose umpteen games, (c) Kentucky is not the elite program in the SEC, (d) Tubby Smith can't coach, (d) His system doesn't work, and whatever otherdoom and gloom mantra that tries to set in may say.
This team is comprised of a group of young men that traveled cross-continent to play in a basketball tournament. In the last couple of weeks, they've played 5 games in 8 days, three of them in succession, in a time zone that is 6 hours different than what they're used to, and they're just flat TIRED! As much as we would like them to be, they're not supermen. Now, why was Memphis able to adjust better and play better? I have no idea. I don't have a degree in physiology. All I know is they just did. But life as we know itisn't over, and the season is FAR fgrom being over. And I don't for one second believe that their heart or their desire comes into play and I refuse to put that into question.
This Wildcat team is young and loaded with talent and the one thing I do know is they're going to be just fine, thank you very much, and I am not going to believe otherwise.
I realize that some of you may disagree and that's fine. Look at it however you choose. But those are MY University of Kentucky Wildcats (just like they're yours, as well :D ) and I am NOT going to give up on them, ever.
(Sorry for the semi-soapbox routine, but some things just need to be said from time to time. )
GO CATS! :wildcatface
