Here it is the day after Thanksgiving, a day where you you spentquality time with your family, watched the kids and grandkids play, ate that marvelous meal and went to bed with a full belly and another set of good memories, safe and content. So very many in this world didn't have nearly as nice a day. As Kentucky Basketball fan(atic)s, we sometimes forget just how lucky we are - weactually have the luxury tocomplain about how good/bad a bunch of 18 year old kids are atplaying a game. In Iraq yesterday, over 200 people lost their lives because they haven't learned to live with each other without overt violence to make their views dominant. In Darfur, hundreds were raped and murdered because they didn't agree (or were helpless to defend themselves)with the powers at be(or want to be). In about a month, we will celebrate Christmas - we will exchange gifts, eat another marvelous meal, watch the joy of the children as they open theirpresents, celebrate the religious aspect of the day - and there are those out there in the world that would (and want to) destroy all of this for their personal aspirations of power and control. The world is not a nice place, but here inAmerica we have the luxury of being concerned(upset, mad, etc.) if ourfavorite basketball team loses a game. Count your blessings -that car bomb could very wellhave gone off next to your kid's school. I fly two car flags - A Kentucky basketballflag for my neverending love for the Wildcats (win or lose) and an American flag for mysupport (politics notwithstanding)for our troops that fight "over there" instead of in my front yard. Time for a seriousreality check, guys and gals.
