Butler is kicking butt right now. Up 17 with just over 3 minutes to go in 1st half.

OK. I like this team Butler. They are well coached and smart. I sure wouldn't want to play them right now.

Butler is playing as good if not better than anyone in the country right now. Looks like it's going to be another great year for mid -majors!

WOW... this could be a threat come tournament time if UK ends up like they did last year, b/c the selection committee is sure to pick more mid-majors the way they are playing this year.

Is it just me, or did anyone else enjoy watching a team that knows how to move without the ball, make quick and sharp passes, find the open man and then nail the 3 or get a layup from a cut to the basket? They seemed to make 3 or 4 passes in the same amount of time that it takes most teams to make 1 or 2. And if they were fouled, they actually hit the free throws! For me, it was refreshing, like basketball used to be played. Seldom dida Butler playerhold on to the ball and just dribble and dribble, or even worse, drive against the entire defensive team trying to carry his own team on his back. Very few turnovers, many, many assists, all out effort, swarming defense.....I miss that kind of basketball. Reminded me a little of the Princeton Tigers in the 70's, for those old enough to remember back that far.
Seems like some coaches know how to recruit for the system they run, and thenrun it to perfection. The Zag's did make a great comeback, and Butler didn't execute as well as they should have down the stretch. But for most of the game, they looked much more polished than most teams do this time of year.Without tremendous physical specimens, (tallest player is 6'7"), they outplayed Notre Dame, Indiana, Tennessee and Gonzaga. My hat is off to the Butler Bulldogs, andCoach Lickliter!
Maybe you don't need a bunch of Top Ten recruits or a monster power forward if you have a strong enough coaching staff that can get the mostpossible from each player and orchestrate an unselfish TEAM.
I disagree with the many fans who think we just don't have good enough athletes to win against the top teams. Only two or three players on this year's team are marginal athletes. With the right coach and coaching system, I believe they could be tremendously successful, just as Butler has been successful.
