We are having a problem with the hotels in Nashville. I started talking to the hotels in Atlanta, Nashville and Memphis after the Georgia game. We were set in Atlanta(Renaissance) and more recently in Memphis, but the hotels in Nashville didn't want toreserve a block of rooms for usdue to the fact that they considered that week a 4 event week(Christmas, the MCB, Titans/Patriots game and New Years Eve).
All the downtown hotels were booked past the point of allowing a block to be reserved by anybody. They then told me they wouldn't do any contracts until it was determined who would be here. I called them back this weekend and when the sales reps called me back they had added a new twist, they now would only do the rooms(just 20 total) if we would guarantee 3 nights stay per reservation. They also wanted to up the price from our last stay from $109 to $209.
The hotels at the airport simply wouldn't do business. After seeking some assistance from our friends in Atlanta I was put in contact with a sales rep from Marriott for the Music City Marriott(where UK used to stay), they agreed to put a block together for us, but after about 20 minutes on the phone they said they were having problems with their computers/software and would call me back when they had the contract worked out.........I haven't heard from them since. I called back and they haven't returned my calls.
There are still rooms available downtown, but prices are jacked up due to the extra events. Some folks have decided to stay in the area of town where I live next to Rivergate Mall, just off I-65 and a straight shot to LP Field. The rates here are normal rates and there are some very good deals to be had. If anybody wants info on these hotels they can PM me and I can book a block of roomsat one of them.
This is why Nashville was my least favorite choice(basketball or football), the hotels do not want to work with companies during events.
If anything changes I will post it ASAP. I apologize, but I've logged a bunch of hours in on phone calls and there's nothing I can do to make them work with us.:(
