We are having a problem with the hotels in Nashville. I started talking to the hotels in Atlanta, Nashville and Memphis after the Georgia game. We were set in Atlanta(Renaissance) and more recently in Memphis, but the hotels in Nashville didn't want toreserve a block of rooms for usdue to the fact that they considered that week a 4 event week(Christmas, the MCB, Titans/Patriots game and New Years Eve).

All the downtown hotels were booked past the point of allowing a block to be reserved by anybody. They then told me they wouldn't do any contracts until it was determined who would be here. I called them back this weekend and when the sales reps called me back they had added a new twist, they now would only do the rooms(just 20 total) if we would guarantee 3 nights stay per reservation. They also wanted to up the price from our last stay from $109 to $209.

The hotels at the airport simply wouldn't do business. After seeking some assistance from our friends in Atlanta I was put in contact with a sales rep from Marriott for the Music City Marriott(where UK used to stay), they agreed to put a block together for us, but after about 20 minutes on the phone they said they were having problems with their computers/software and would call me back when they had the contract worked out.........I haven't heard from them since. I called back and they haven't returned my calls.

There are still rooms available downtown, but prices are jacked up due to the extra events. Some folks have decided to stay in the area of town where I live next to Rivergate Mall, just off I-65 and a straight shot to LP Field. The rates here are normal rates and there are some very good deals to be had. If anybody wants info on these hotels they can PM me and I can book a block of roomsat one of them.

This is why Nashville was my least favorite choice(basketball or football), the hotels do not want to work with companies during events.

If anything changes I will post it ASAP. I apologize, but I've logged a bunch of hours in on phone calls and there's nothing I can do to make them work with us.:(

Big kudos to Rick on this - he literally put in many hours of work and the list of hotels he gave me that he contacted but which were unwilling to work with us was truely staggering. Thanks for all the effort Rick! You da man!

I have a suite at the Airport Marriott Residence Inn for $99 a night. I'll call and see if they have vacancies.

EDIT: Being a Platinum has its advantages. I just called Rick at the Residence Inn in Nville and he has 30 rooms available for every night except the 29th. But he is going to send you email with anything he can do for us. He is checking all Marriott properties.

I appreciate the help, but the lady in charge of sales(Marriott hotels)for Tennessee and Georgia has been working on this for us the last few days. Shewas/is working onthe Music City Marriott(only Marriott that could fill our needs).

There's more to it than just availability, they wont reserve them to us in a block.

Hey guys,

I'm trying to work on another option for Cat's fans, Trying to work out something with the Music City Star commuter train, runs from Lebanon, TN to Downtown Nashville several times daily, folks could stay in Lebanon, plenty of hotels rooms here and we could turn it into the Big Blue Express and you wouldn't have any parking hassles either.

I'll keep you posted

Bless your heart, Wildcat Rick. Too, from reading only the first part of the post, I was already going to say something about how long you must have spent trying to get rooms for WCN folks. :(Thanks a million for your efforts. AsWildcatDan said, you are DA MAN (but don't let that go to your head! :ggrin:). GO CATS!

That's where I believe I am staying on Friday Night. My Uncle has a place for me to stay on Thursday night but I"m not sure where that just yet. The people I"m going down with decided we wanted to make a trip of it so we are staying down there on both, Thursday and Friday nights.
