Just a FYI out to all the big blue faithful heading to Nashville, leave early, get here early. LP Field is a wonderful place for a ball game but it is a traffic nightmare. If you cut it too close, you'll be stuck on the interstate at kickoff. Traffic will back up very quickly on the interstates plus it's also a regular workday in downtown Nashville so parking will be limited.
So get here early, hit the tailgate party and say hello!

I will vouch for this. When my dad and I came down for the MCB in 1999, our 3-hour drive from Louisville took 4.5 hours. Same with getting back. Traffic began backing up as far north as one of the Glasgow exits on the way down. At least I-65 is wider now in spots, so maybe it won't be as bad as it was then. Your only saving grace might be that a lot of people take off the week between Christmas and New Year's, so parking MIGHT be a little bit more accessible than it would be otherwise. Some lots may still not allow you to park there even if they're half-empty (i.e., my workplace).
One thing that they did in 1999--they had parking out at the fairgrounds south of town, then you could pay X amount of dollars per person to ride the shuttle to and from the game. That was probably the best move we could have made, especially since my dad had breathing trouble and couldn't walk terribly long distances. Don't know if they're doing that again this year. If so, that might be a good alternative if you're personally not tailgating out of your own car. Problem is, you have to get through Nashville--and past LP Field--to get there.
Get here early, and be patient. Leaving may be worse than getting here, since it might coincide with Nashville's afternoon rush hour. It was HORRIBLE trying to get out of downtown that one Friday that UofL played MTSU at LP Field.

I remember that day. It was Big Blue Gridlock, bumper to bumper. Seemed like EVERY car had a waving K flag on it.
Precious Memories.
