Congratulations, Hayden!!

The league's coaches also selected Kentucky offensive lineman Hayden Lane and Florida wide receiver Percy Harvin as the league's scholar-athlete of the year and top freshman performer.

Lane, a senior from Lawrenceville, Ga., graduated in three years with a 3.95 GPA and a double major in Anthropology and Classics. He is currently in his second year in his master's in History with a 3.86 GPA. On the field, Lane has started 26 games in the offensive line during his Wildcat career.

He had a cast to his elbow last weekend and said he was to get a short cast soon and would have to see if that would enable him to play. We still have over 3 weeks to gametime - perhaps he can participate. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy and family.

Too, I do hope Hayden does get to play in the bowl game (and Coach Brooks likewise expressed the hope that he will be able to play). While you say that it "couldn't happen to a nicer guy and family," RV, I (not knowing the young man or his family) will add that it couldn't happen to a smarter guy. I have always beenSO impressed when reading about Hayden Lane. :)GO CATS!
