"If we had a playoff system, we would be playing for the national title."
Instead, the Hokies get one shot at Georgia, a Southeastern Conference member.
"It gives us a chance to show that the ACC is able to compete on a level with the SEC," said Tech offensive tackle Brandon Frye. "Some people say that the SEC is a better conference. I think we'll be able to show that we're on the same level as the SEC."

While I certainly hope you're right, Clemson is much more talented across the board than UK. I think we match up will with them at most of the skill positions, and Andre is head and shoulders better than their QB, but overall they have better talent.
Clemson just hasn't been consistent, sort of the trademark of the Tommy Bowden ere. For every big win, he has an inexplicable loss. Bear in mind they beat both GT and Wake, the teams that played for the ACC title.
The ACC is not nearly as strong as the SEC, but we will have to play a very good game to beat Clemson.

"Who let the dawgs out!!!!" Go Dawgs!!!!
Yeah - overall the ACCcould be thesecond worst BCS conference this season(still ahead of the notso big east). BTAIM, Clemson is a very talented team that has underachieved much likeGeorgia in the SEC. LSU underachieved in the SEC too. VaTechdid likewise.

Good points, RV.
Too, as I read your post, I thought to myself that Clemson is probably the best team in the ACC, while LSU isprobably thebest team in the SEC. In fact,I only wishLSU were playing Ohio State, as I think LSU, who did not make the SEC title game, would havethe better chance of beating Ohio State to win the national championship.Similarly, yes, I would prefer playing either of the two participants in the ACC title game, Wake Forest or Georgia Tech, to playing Clemson. GO CATS!

Do you really think the ACC is better than the Big East? At the top, I don't think it's close. Louisville, WVU and Rutgers vs. Wake Forest, Va. Tech and Boston College? I'll take the Big East. (And this is coming from someone who likes Virginia Tech almost as much as UK.)
And the bottom of the ACC (Duke, UNC, NC State) is probably worse than the bottom of the Big East (Pitt, UConn, Syracuse).
Just my opinion, but I think the Big East has gotten quite a bit better, while the ACC has gotten a lot worse.

They are going to make a case by beating a sub-par team this year? That is a ridiculous notion... Big time inferiority complex over in Blacksburg.
