In the picture below, it looks like Jasper's elbow has hit the ball and knocked it out of the IU player's hand. For arguement's sake, let's say that happened. I'm assuming that it's not a foul on Jasper because his elbow is on the ball and not on the player.
If the IU player continues his shooting motion and Crawford touches his wrist, is it a foul on Crawford even though the ball has already been blocked by Jasper?
For the record, I'm not disagreeing with any call here, just trying to clarify in my mind what could happen "after" a shot is blocked.

That is a great question, and I welcome the opportunity to answer it, although it will be difficult.
First let me point out that a snapshot only shows what's happening at that instant. What happened before and after is speculation.
For instance, did Morris hit his arm before becoming straight up and while he had possession? Or, did the IU player regain possession and continue his shooting motionafter Jasper dislodged it with his elbow, andbefore he returned to the floor?
If none of these things happened, and it's unlikely they did, let's look at all possibilities. If the ball is dislodged, and everyone returns to the floor, it looks like there would be no foul. It looks like the KY players are at the height of their jump, but I can't tell about the IU player. Things change so fast in a game, and it's hard to say what actually happened. There is no charge possibility, but any of the players could push off while going for a loose ball.
One of the things that bothers me, there's no official in the picture. They are teaching them now to stay out wider, but IMO they get straightlined a lot. The best angle for this play is just to the right of Jasper right in front of the cameraman sitting on the floor. From thereyou would have a clear look between everyone involved. I'm struggling with this one because there are so many things that can happen in a second, and I can't remember how this one played out. :nada:

I'm not really trying to imagine what when on before or after the photo, only asking a what if question based on the circumstances if these were the facts. In other words, this is strictly a hypothetical question, not based on what actually happened at all.
If the ball was dislodged from the shooter legally by one player, but the shooter continued his shooting motion and was hit on the wrist by another player, would that be a foul. And, if so, would it be a shooting foul?
The picture just got me thinking about the above described hypothetical situation.
Thanks.

I see now what your question is. In that case there would not be a foul if the ball remained dislodged. Sorry, I was thinking about my response before I read the question.

I didn't think there would be a foul, either, but I have been wrong before. ;)
